The bride enjoys fashion, but she is still very casual. The groom is as much of a guy's-guy as you can get, but he used to be a graphic designer. I'm getting so many mixed signals! She's a social worker and he designs and builds handcrafted acoustic guitars and other instruments.
Any ideas on what to wear? I was thinking that a nicer matte jersey dress in a pretty autumn color would be nice. I don't want that to look too much like a day dress though. I don't want to wear a ball gown either.
If I can find a dress that I can wear to work too, that would be fab. I'm going to try to stick to under $150.00 this time around. I feel like I've been spending too much lately.
From their wedding website: THE ATTIRE: Please dress comfortably. The ceremony will be held outside on the grass so ladies you probably won't want to wear your favorite high heels. A suit and/or a shirt and tie is fine for the men and for the ladies anything goes as long as you feel beautiful! I will be wearing white....
THE MENU: We will be having BBQ that will be smoked on site and all the fixins. If you have never tasted NC BBQ you are in for a treat!
Ideas I have had so far. More are gleefully welcomed:
I have the last dress in that color... and I wear it all the time, it is so easy to dress up and dress down. Not to mention how amazingly comfy it is.

I made a quick decision after taking a look for an alternative to the Rachel Pally dress you all have liked so far (little too $$ for me right now).
I like Sweet Pea tops a lot, so I figure I'll like this dress. The price rocks too ($57.00). Chocolate brown always looks good on me, so I went with that. I hope the bridesmaids aren't wearing chocolate... Oh well.
I own the RP caftan too and I really love how versatile it is. I really like the Sweet Pea dress you chose too...love Sweet Pea...so comfy but still pulled together.
I like the chocolate brown the best by far. I might play with the sleeves a little - I think they'd be more flattering if they were a bit shorter, but maybe they'll be just right on you versus the creepy white mannequin. Good choice - good deal - good times! You can definitely wear that to the office, or even on the weekends with a long-sleeved (heather gray?) tee underneath.
The wedding sounds VERY casual and I applaud them for being so great about spelling out the dress code. What about bronze wedges (for walking on grass), wearing your hair up and curly, and a funky beaded necklace?
