Per the SA, they had gotten a first shipment a month ago that sold out in a weekend. They had just replenished their stock this weekend and I was lucky to have my pick of sizes.
I am a 34D/DD and a 6 on top, 4/6 or 27/28 on the bottom. I took an 8 in this dress to accomodate my chest. A 6 fit but felt very tight and the white stripes started on my chest. The 8 is comfy like a t-shirt. If I was smaller on top (maybe 34B like a fit model) I probably would've been able to wear the 4 because the skirt is pretty free flowing. I'm 5' 3" and the dress hits me right above the knee in an 8, but was maybe an inch or two shorter in the 6.
The bell sleeves are not too exaggerated and the neckline is lovely. It's a boatneck, but goes down a little lower in front. I like that it highlights the collarbone nicely and remains modest. I can still wear a regular Le Mystere Dream Tisha underneath with no problem. Mildly weird, but the SAs actually asked me if I was wearing a bra when I tried the dress on because they couldn't see any bra lines or anything.
I think this would be a very flattering dress for girls who have hips/butt. It also does a great job of hiding my less-than-flat abs.
The only two bad things I can say about the dress are.
* It's 100% cotton. At $168, I would have liked to see merino wool or cashmere blended in.
* It's hand wash only. I wish I could dry clean it, but I'm willing to do what it takes to keep this in shape.
I wish I had a IRL pic, but I don't have internet at my new place yet.
It also comes in black/gray and black/violet (a cooler purple with some gray in it) but the black/ivory is by far the most striking.
hmm I'm wondering if I'd be able to fit into the size 10 (which is the largest size they have). I'm pretty busty up top especially now after the baby and all..
It definitely has a slimmer fit through the chest...the model wearing it in the FC ads has a flat chest and the stripes start at her natural waist. On me it starts right below my chest.
It's worth a shot. I wear an 8/10 in DVF solely for my chest. The 8 has a bit of room and I'm tempted to say that the cotton will loosen up over time, but I can't be 100% sure, you know?
i love it! i also tried it on in an 8 and regret not trying the size 6... i'm also a dvf 8/10. you're right about the 8 being loose. anyhow, i was going to wait for it to go on sale a bit... but now i may have to order it! :)
