Slightly snobby rant, but WTF?????

Okay, so 2 weeks ago we bought a "certified pre-owned" Lexus LX470.  That's the big mama-jama SUV.  Totally hot, can't get better than that.  Fully loaded with everything I would've put into a new one.  I absolutely adore it, but that BS Lexus gives you about how only the "best" cars and trucks get certified by Lexus and that they have to go thru such a thorough inspection that they're like new.

We discussed all the following issues before signign final papers:  First of all, there was a small hole in the leather on the side of one of the seats.  No biggie - they would get their leather expert on it.  Next, the thing has a CD/DVD changer in the front console so we can put in a movie from up front and control it and then supposedly also be able to play a CD.  Not sure how that would work, but that's what they told us.   Tried it, didn't work.  No picture on the TV at all, but we could hear it.  Third, there was some puny-ass remote that looked like it came from 1984 that didn't appear to control anything.   They had no clue what it was for.  Then the passenger mirror wouldn't move sometimes but would at other times.  They assured us all these things would be taken care of when we picked up the truck to take it home.

We happened to find out there was another DVD player in the third row that only that person could control. We also found the operable remote in that hidden compartment.  Fine, now we can play a movie, but only if the FM is set on a certain channel.  We can change the channel if the kids put on their headphones.  Still fine, however there is some weird interference on that channel that is like nails on a chalkboard whenever we are in certain areas.  And the "leather expert" fixed the leather, but you can totally see the patch.  And where they cleaned all the other leather, it's now gritty!furious  Now they're telling us we just can't put DVDs in the front changer and control it from up there even though the changer clearly states that it's for both CDs and DVDs AND the salesman assured us that was how to play the movies.  Now they're changing the story.  Ugh!  So annoying!

So I just need to gripe cause I feel like it.  So there. nana.gif

That is so annoying! Sounds like they were telling you what you wanted to hear to close the sale. Especially when you're making an investment like that, you deserve to be taken care of. I really like those SUV's, what color did you get?

I think it's called sand dollar. I'd call it creamy with a pearlescent glaze. So, not white, not khaki.

You're right on closing the sale. Like I said, I still love it, so it's worth the frustration; but it really sucks that they told us how close to new the certifieds are, but they really just seem to have skimmed over the vehicle w/o much thought. Meh. Oh well. We're making them work for it since we didnt' get a killer deal anyway!

My dad used to have a Lexus, and he hated it. The quality was basically the same as Toyota (same company) with a higher price, and the service was worse. He got a Toyota Sequoia instead. Sorry you're dealing with this!
