what are your thoughts on using a razor during a haircut? i've had the same stylist for over two years and i usually love what she does to my hair, but i let her go a little crazy last time and i was not happy with the cut at all. she put in a lot of shorter layers and used a razor on the ends. i don't think razoring (did i just make up a word?) works very well with my hair texture. it makes the ends look really unhealthy. (i have thick, fine hair.)
what are some of the reasons for using a razor? when should you not use one? i'm going back in a few weeks for another cut - what should i tell my stylist? is there another technique that will thin out/shape my layers without using a razor?
I recently let my stylist have even more creative latitude on top of what I already give her. She basically did the same thing. I loved the cut she did before the razory one but not the razory one.
If you like the cut you go before the razor-y one, I would tell her: You know, Barb, I really enjoyed trying something new last time I was in. It was so fun! This time, though, I would like to get a cut closer to the one you did for me during the appointment before last. I especially liked that cut best because it worked really well with my hair's texture and growth patterns between cuts.
