TWO lovesick three-year-olds ran away together because they were being split into different nursery groups.
Erin Toner and Bradley Lindsay, who call each other boyfriend and girlfriend, burst into tears.
Then they fled the playgroup hand-in-hand and were only stopped when another parent came across them outside.
Erin's mum Emma Morrison and Bradley's mum Rachel are now pleading with education bosses to allow the youngsters to stay together.
Rachel, 27, said: "Staff told us in 11 years no child has ever managed to escape the playgroup.
"But Bradley and Erin pushed open a heavy security door and got through another two doors and a waiting room without being stopped.
"This shows how desperate they are to be together. They shouldn't be apart. They mean I the world to each other."
She added: "Bradley threw a tantrum and burst into tears. He then said, 'I'll take her with me'. I didn't think any more of it because he's only three."
Bradley and Erin, from Macduff, Banffshire, met when they started playgroup at the start of the year but have been split up for nursery.
Emma said: "The two of them are so cute together and so close I think the best thing would be to put them back together."
Aberdeenshire Council insisted both children were doing well and any change would also disrupt other youngsters.
