I'm going to be there next week too! Sept 14-16 for a female pilots' convention. This is my first time, so I don't know anything either. Sorry. :(

Fun!  You could hit LoDo for an afternoon/evening - tons of restaurants down there within walking distance, and there's a free shuttle that goes up and down 16th St.

This was our favorite happy hour place, north end of LoDo.
Best. Margaritas. Evah.  The food is good too.  I think.  If you don't get there early, the line goes around the block!  They have a 2 marg limit they're so strong!

Cherry Creek is also a nice place to walk around and find something, and is much more quaint.  We went to lots of places there and loved them all!  Quite a few boutiques and galleries around there too, so fun window shopping.

This is a fun dive-bar kind of place, but great food!
My favorite BBQ joint, just a little SE of Cherry Creek.

This mexican place is a little north of Cherry Creek, and a little south of LoDo.  Also really good margaritas, and they come in a bajillion different flavors by the pitcher biggrin.gif.

You could also take the train up to the mountains (it leaves from LoDo), but that would take the whole day hmm.gif.  If you have some time and a car, you could drive up into the foothills.  Lots of little local shopping up there, and it will be absolutely beautiful this time of year with all the aspens turning color!

Thanks!  I love Mexican food so I'll defintely check some of those places out.

Do you know anything about a herd of buffalo about 20 miles outside the city?  Someone at the office told me I had to go see the buffalo herd, apparently they're descended from the last wild American buffalo.  confused

Hmmm, I've seen some buffalo but don't recall hearing of 'special' ones hmm.gif.  Some places are starting to farm them now, so IIRC there's a couple places around there ...
