I tried this on at Anthro yesterday, and it fits wonderfully. I'm having an issue with $100 for a cotton dress though, especially moving into fall (though with our weather, I could still get a few months' worth of wear out of it).
I don't know if it will hold up well (the brand is Velvet) and I really think that price is a bit excessive for cotton. It looked so good on though...What do y'all think?

I don't think $100 is too much. I usually find a way to wear my cotton dresses most of the year tho. I have several Velvet dresses and I love the quality, comfort, and fit.
i don't think $100 is too much for a dress that looks amazing on you. i have a few velvet pieces and they hold up really well through wearings and washings. i wouldn't get too hung up on it being cotton it's really is a nice, quality cotton. sooo comfortable too.
It's worth it if it looks great but it does sort of seem like the type of item that would go on sale (although perhaps that is the sale price) -- so it might be worth hunting around for it a little bit. I really like Velvet's quality but I do always see it on sale.
i agree with the other ladies, for $100 you can definitely find something similar with a better material. and Velvet is a good brand to look into, i have a few items from them and they hold up well.
I have a Velvet dress and skirt and they've both held up really well. Their cotton is so soft and holds its shape well. I don't think $100 is too much for one of their dresses and if it fits well, then go for it!
Thanks, ladies. I am still on the fence. I didn't look at the tag that closely in the store, and the info online just says "cotton"...it just doesn't feel like it will hold up for more than a season, and for $100 I'd like to think it will last longer. I'm glad some of you have had good experiences with the Velvet brand.
I asked the girl at Anthro about it, becuse it did seem like it was for summer, not new for fall, and she said they'd had it over the summer, but just got some more in. So I don't know that it will go on sale there anytime soon. I guess I'll Google the brand and see if I can find it anywhere else for a little less.

Thanks, Elle, that's a pretty dress. But all the enablers here *wink* convinced me. I researched Velvet and their items are made in the US and I am willing to pay more for that, plus the other posters who said it should hold up well twisted my arm. It's in the shopping bag upstairs. :)
Thanks for all your input! I think I am going to get a lot of use out of this dress!

I'm posting late, but just wanted to say the dress is very cute and I've had good experiences with Velvet! If it fits you that well, it is definitely worth $100.
I'm glad you bought it! I'm sure you are very pleased with the quality...I LOVE Velvet and I pratically lived in their clothing while I was pregnant..but the material is soo soft and stretchy..
The dress Elle posted is also incredibly flattering on...I tried it on last week...and almost bought but thought twice because Jcrew always has sales...I'm glad I waited and I'm off to go pick it up today! ;)
That one that Elle posted is on my fall wishlist and now that it's on sale, I'm going to have to hurry and get it before it sells out! I just can't decide between the green and the aubergine!
get it. it's totally overpriced but the cost per wear will be worth it. i bought it in red and love it so much i just went back and bought it in navy too. it's super versatile and comfy.
Okay, I wore it yesterday and it's AWESOME. So, so comfortable. And I think the deep blue / purple color will be more versatile than I first thought. I put a coral-y cami underneath and some rockin' jewelry, and felt fab. Thanks girls, for giving me the push to get it! :)
