I'm going camping this weekend with my BF and his family. We'll be there Friday afternoon to Sunday morning. I know what to bring for us humans, but not quite sure for doggies.
Heres my list so far: food water bowls treats toys leashes (6 feet or longer, for when they need to be tied up) pillows and blankets (for the tent) towels (in case they go in the lake)
I know they need some sort of bug spray, but I'm not sure what kind. Also, is there anything else I need? This will be their first camping trip. They have been to the site before for a day and they liked it. It will be hot, but they will be in a very shady area and have tons of water. Any advice would be very helpful. Thanks!!
I'd add some benadryl to your list, in case of bee stings, and maybe a first aid kit (for both doggies and humans!) if you don't already have one. Poop bags? Some extra ice for them to chew on when it's warm?

Here's an online list I found, though I personally wouldn't know what to do with all of it, which would make some things considerably less effective! There are dog-kits out there (and likely available at Petsmart, Petco, etc), but many of the things are probably the same as for people kits. Maybe just familiarize yourself with how the items, especially the meds, should be used/dosed for dogs? The only one I know is for benadryl, which is dosed at 1mg per pound of body weight (ie, a 30 lb dog would likely require 2-15 mg pills).
Gauze sponges -- 50 four-by-four inch sponges, two per envelope
Sterile stretch gauze bandage -- three inches by four yards
Buffered aspirin
Dermicil hypoallergenic cloth tape one inch by 10 yards
Hydrogen peroxide
Kaopectate tablets maximum strength
Bandage scissors
Custom splints
Vet Rap bandage
I'd say the hydocortisone, peroxide, gauze, tape, aformentioned benadryl, and maybe something to make a splint would be enough in most cases. I'd call your regular vet and ask what basics they'd recommend, and I'd also look up the nearest vet/animal hospital's number and driving directions from your campsite, in case of emergency.
