Slender, black jersey knit tube skirt that came down to my ankles- -complete with ribbed cuff at the hem. Add a bright canary yellow polo that was the length of a tunic. I included black slipons from K-mart to my Fashion Bug and Dress Barn purchases. So cute. Then I tried to step onto the school bus in my tube skirt. I couldn't bend or extend my leg high enough without hiking up the skirt! Such a dork. 7th grade, 1987......aahhh the good days....not quite.

JJ, if we'd gone to school together, I would have considered you the coolest person in the world because of that outfit. I would have wanted to be your friend so bad, even more than Vickie Pool.
I was sporty girl in high school....and it was SOOOO Freaking hot and humid in Oklahoma when we started back to school in August...dressing up didn't really start until fall....which is basically November here...
The only outift i can remember is my Senior year (1998)....a brand new pair of Purple Umbro Shorts and a new grey Old Navy t-shirt, with my New Balance kicks and no show socks... Dallas had just gotten an Old Navy and my mom had brought one home for me when she and my Aunt went shopping. I loved it....I think I still have it....

7th grade (1986): Black leggings, HUGE pink sweater dress thingy, slouchy grey suede boots, and hair in a banana clip.
10th grade (1990) and the very important first day of high school: black jeans, white button up shirt, silky red paisley vest, and black shoes. The shoes were those not quite cowboy "boot" shoes that ended right at the ankle.
12th grade (1992 in Seattle = grunge!): Red doc martens, jeans w/ hole in knees, tank top, plaid flannel.
Man, I wish my parents lived close by so that I could scan photos for y'all!
I remember very few first day of school outfits, but I do remember what I wore to interview with my private school in the fourth grade. A goldenrod/mustard yellow-ish turtleneck, black chinos with double pleats in the front and tapered legs. Penny loafers with actual pennies in the them. A side ponytail. Oh and because I was stylish and sophisticated, a pair of socks that EXACTLY matched my goldenrod/yellow shirt. I'm sure my underwear matched as well. I had a THING for color coordination.
