Something is happening to me...warning long

I think I'm becoming recognizable as a mom, and not just because I have my kids in tow. Seriously lately I've been living in beaters and bermudas and a ponytail. I just ordered this bag (please i know how some of you feel about coach and logos) because it's big and handsfree, ok I do like coach too...

BUT here's the thing... only a few months ago I would look at these women and say "oh yeah she's a mom" and today I looked in the mirror and though OMG I AM one of those women. Not that it's bad mind you. I have just finally succumb to sometimes caring more, about get clothes on hair up and out of the house, than the old primp and scrutinize(sp) how I look for 40 min. Mind you this only really just happened.
Some days I look in the shopping and fashion forum and thing "cute but not practical" or "where would I ever where that". I mean a lot of days accessorizing for me is a ponytail holder on my wrist for my oldest DD's hair. I don't think I look sloppy or frumpy, like some I see, but I do look like I took the fast route now.

OK so ? is any of you Mom's out there feel this way sometimes?

I feel this way and I'm not even a mom! I nanny full time, (so I feel like a mom) and I completely know what you feel like, before I get dressed for "work" I ask myself, "will i be upse if this gets stained? is this comfortable? is this appropriate? is this flexible? if the answer is yes to all of those, it most likely isn't that cute. Not to mention, after running from here to there, playing soccer, running in the park and walking the dog, the hair is usually in a bun, and the makeup MIA, so I just feel blah. People are always asking me if they are my kids and I'm thinking to myself omg, do i LOOK like a mom?

I think you're just paranoid! I have days when I live in sweats and tanks.. flip flops or something.. doesn't give me a mom look!

I'm not crazy about the logos on the bag but if you're into that...

Wow - I can relate but I'm on the opposite side of the scope. I'm a full time working mom so I feel like when I do take DD to the park, I need to "dress the part". Honestly I have not taken DD to a park with other moms until 3 weeks ago and it was right after work. I felt SO. Uncomfortable the entire time I was there. I was wearing my 4" sandals, with a cord skirt, tank and embroidered bolero, while the rest of the moms were wearing trouser shorts, tees and a&f sandals. I swore everyone was giving me weird looks as I was trying to hike thorugh the sandbox in my Victoria Beckham emsemble.

The next time, I planned out my "mom" outfit and wore bermuda shorts, tank, casual wedges and my hair in a ponytail; and I still felt the wedges may have been too much. From your Thread Style posts, I think you are very stylish, I think what sets you apart is the accessories you add to your supposedly "mom outfit". I never once thought "mom outfit" from seeing your posts.

to be honest, i am very conscious of not looking too "mom" like. i guess because i feel like a child shouldn't have to change your whole lifestyle. i definitely dress more casually than i used to, and i do think about getting stains on clothing/etc in terms of whether i am going to wear (or even buy) something or not, but i still try to maintain my previous look for the most part. (this is when i leave the house -- when i'm at home, that's a different story!)

that said, these are my issues and i admit it's a little embarassing when i'm overdressed at the park or at a playdate, but it's just how i am and i feel like if i give a little, i'll just let myself go.

Whenever you post your outfits I always think you look so cute. You always look very put together. You dont have to have full make-up and a blowout to look great. I think your casual looks are very appropriate. Bottom line is, you dont have anything to worry about!! biggrin

Oh yeah girl, that's hilarious, I am right there with you!

But I keep telling myself that things will change back to normal soon, when the boys get a little older.

When I bother to wear jewelry, it gets tugged upon.  Same goes when I wear my long hair down.

When I wear any blouse that might reveal a little cleavage, a tiny hand ends up on my boob or exposing my bra by hanging onto me.  Not to mention there is a risk of flashing people when I lean down to scoop them up.

Wearing heels really is a pain in the ass when you have to dodge and chase a toddler.  I live in a pair of rocketdog skimmers, they are comfortable and a little more flattering to the leg than simple flip flops.

Even my makeup is always minimal.  I absolutely hate when it smears on my son's clothes, he loves to crush and cuddle himself into my face.

I don't wear dresses or skirts when with the children very often, unless I found some cheerleader shorts to wear underneath...I think the reasons are obvious.

I really don't often go anywhere currently that requires looking polished, especially since I am with the boys 99% of the time, so why should I go through the ritual of primping every day?  The fanciest place I go with the boys is the suburban mall....where by the way, I actually caught a cute man smiling at me the other day as my son was loudly asking if he could please ride the escalator.  Not sure if it was a sympathy smile or just that he thought the kids were cute, but it was nice anyway.
