Where can I find a good herb garden - I am looking for one with various small pots, with herbs like parsley, mint, basil, sage... Does anyone have anything like this? TIA
I know I've seen kits like these at nurseries and botanical gardens before. You could also just go to anyplace with a garden center and buy the herbs individually. I bought 2 small basil plants and put them in a rectangular clay pot and I'm thinking of getting a second pot for 1 or 2 other varieties of herbs.
I would also go to a local nursery and DIY, with some cute little pots that match your decor.
Most culinary herbs thrive on neglect. That means no fertilizing; sandy, skimpy soil; low water. They don't like a lot of fussing - they're very hardy - and you get stronger flavor when you keep them a bit dried out and hungry.
Tip from a gardening editor on herbs indoors: fill a tray with small gravel and set the pots on the gravel. Water the soil only when dry about an inch down (stick your finger in there). Otherwise just keep the gravel damp so the plants stay humid instead of moist.
