Halleybird or anyone else familiar with the Southwest...

I want to take a camping trip with the fam this October, and I don't know where to go.  We're willing to drive up to 5 hours from Phoenix.  The first place that crossed my mind was the Flagstaff area, but I'm wondering where else we might like.  Oh, and I'd prefer a campground with showers and potties!

Can anyone help?

Ughhh, I don't camp. My husband goes a couple of times a year, though, and he loves the "Rim Lakes." They go to Woods Canyon, which is east of Strawberry/Pine. He says it's about 3 hours from Phoenix.

When we went camping as a kid, we always went to Rose Creek, which is east of Payson along the Mogollon. I am sure they had potties, and I think they had showers too. You may want to check if the forest fires have affected either of these areas though. HTH!

I don't know if you can camp there, but Sedona is beautiful

This may be too far for you, but my bf and I took a road/camping trip through Jackson's Hole, the Grand Tetons, and Yellowstone a couple of years ago in August. It was far enough north that the nights were cool, and all the state parks were gorgeous and had great facilities, including toilets and hot showers.
