Halleybird...Azur speedy review
Permalink Closed

I figured I should hurry up with my review what with the price increase this wednesday. I dont have pictures right now, but I can send them to you if you need, or go to purseforum.

I got the bag last sunday, and I absolutely love it! I got the speedy 25. I think it suits my size the best. I'm 5', 105 lbs. I dont think that the 30 looked too huge on me, but I dont really carry a lot of stuff, so there was no need for me to have that large of a bag.

The canvas seems to be pretty durable. If it gets a little dirty you can just wipe it off with some water and cloth. The leather handles are untreated so you have to be careful with them. I think the most important thing that the SA told me was not make sure your lotion, etc. is fully absorbed before holding the bag.

The only thing that I would change is having more compartments inside the bag. It does have one pocket on the inside. I think I'm going to get a small cosmetics pouch to put my lip balm and lipglosses in though.

If you have a heavy wallet, or carry anything else that is heavy, the bag will sag.
I think you will be ordering the bag from E-luxury so you wont be able to try out the different sizes. The 30 may suit your size more, but you're slender, so I dont think that the 25 would look too small.

I think it should come down to what you carry with you. I was considering the 30, but the SA said if you dont carry a lot (for me a wallet, phone, sunglasses, lip balm, lip gloss, possibly a camera) the 30 would cave in on the sides.

Lets see...I think I covered it all. If you have other questions feel free to ask.

BTW, the color is very chic IRL. I think it goes with a lot too.

Thanks for the review! I got the 30. I figured I could always exchange it (I think you get 30 days on elux), and the 25 is in stock more often. I guess I would rather have one that's too big instead of too small. I think the one I saw at the boutique was a 25, and it looked a teeny bit too small for me.

Anyway, it should be here this week. I am only keeping it if I L*O*V*E it in person. (And hopefully I don't love it TOO much, since I kinda want one in epi too.)

Are you supposed to pre-treat the leather handles? Or just leave them? I don't care about the patina, just dirt.

Congrats on the purchase! I hope you love it!

I was advised to absolutely not attempt any sort of treating of any of the leather parts. My SA also cautioned against lotion, as brazilian said, and ink pens. I've found it easy to keep clean, and I just don't put lotion on when I'm carrying it.

I would pre-treat them if I were you. I didn't on mine, and now there are some little marks I can't get off with Apple Cleaner. I used the Apple cleaner and moisturizer a few weeks ago, and the patina was enhanced a bit.

Before you make a decision either way, I would highly suggest researching on The Purse Forum.  Here is a little "reference library" of all the threads on treating LVs.  http://forum.purseblog.com/louis-vuitton-faqs/cleaning-products-faq-monkeys-apples-kiwis-oh-my-99273.html

I dont think youre suppossed to treat it in any way. I asked my SA because I also was worried about it getting dirty. She said not to treat it.

I really like the look of the epi bags. I'm not sure if youre worried at all about the "noticability" of the bag (is that a word, i hope you get what i mean). To be honest I was a little. The damier is getting a little bit more recognizable, but the azur is pretty recent. And I think because of the different colors, people arent going to notice it as an LV bag.

I'm sure youre going to love youre bag. The 30 will look great on you!

Ahhh, I am so confused now about the pretreating. Thanks for the link, z4. I don't post at TPF, but when I try to search it's overwhelming!

I wish the handles were a bit less maintenance, b/c part of what I love about the bag is the durability of the canvas. But I figure once it ages, it will be hard to tell anyway.

brazilian - yeah, I didn't want it to scream "LV." People here are so logo-crazy, though, they'll probably figure it's another designer knocking off the Speedy shape, which is fine with me. I have actually never seen anyone here carrying either Damier color (except for one guy with the Damier messenger). People here tend to like the white multicolor line, which is a little over the top for me.

zeitgeist- (because I know you're a true bag connoisseur), are you happy with LV quality? I have never considered myself an LV fan, but some of their small goods are very nice in person.

Well, I read up on some of the topics on tPF. It seems that Shining Monkey and Apple Guard are the most popular for treating the vachetta. Other people have also tried a wilsons leather treatment and Kiwi. (I think they are all in forms of a spray). I think the reason the LV SA say not to treat it, is so they are not held responsible if something happens. I'm interested in treating the handles so I won't have to worry so much about getting them dirty. I also read that using baby wipes helps clean the handles, but are a bit drying. (so either use moisturizing ones, or use some sort of leather conditioner after.)

I think since youre able to treat the handles, and the canvas is so durable (and easy to take care of), this will be a great bag. Since I dont carry much stuff it isnt heavy to carry in my hands or on my arm. I thought it would bug me not being able to carry it on my shoulder, but the only time I have found that to be a problem was when I was at the grocery store pushing the cart. Then I just had my BF push...biggrin

This was my first designer bag and I was a bit nervous spending so much money, but I feel very good about my purchase. I know this bag will last me a very long time and will always be classic. I hope you are as happy with the bag as I am!! aww
