Frustrated... 80%??
Permalink Closed

My boyfriend and I have been together for about a year and a half and all in all we are very happy. There are just those few things that we need to work on... This morning, I woke up very cranky and was being emotional and told him that if this was what I had to look forward to if we were married, I didn't want to marry him. I am very grumpy in the morning and he always insists on me getting up first and getting in the shower so I can make breakfast. Well of course this coment didn't make the situation any better and I immediately regretted it, but I was upset. I guess I just feel really taken for granted. I am almost expected to make hime breakfast each morning and it used to be something I would do to be nice, but now it's almost an expected thing. I was feeling kind of crappy about the whole thing and I asked him how he thought things were going between us and he gave me some random figure, that 80% of the time it's going well and he's happy. My reaction to that was 80%?? That's it?? That's horrible and thats with me making your freaking breakfast every morning and lunch every other day? Whta do I have to do to be at least 90%? I told him that I thought that was a little low of a score and asked what would make things better? He told me I need to rely on him less for my plans and get some hobbies. I am realy frustrated with this because I feel like I do do this... Sometimes relationships are so irritating!
Thanks for letting me vent!

Favors , Like makeing breakfast, are acts of love. However when *expected* come across as demanding and controlling, as well as taking someone for granted.

Have a talk to work it out. Explain where you are coming from. Give him a chance to change the things that bother you. On the flip side , you also need to listen to what he has said and work on some of the things that bother him.

Its all about give and take and meeting someone half way... if you can do that it will all work out :)

(speaking from someone who has been married a long time .... :)

I dont think this will help but just to let you know relationships are never 100%. There are always ups and downs, people will always have flaws, he will hate things about you and vice versa. It can't be 100%, and thats what makes it great, its unpredictable, you strive to be accepted, you strive to please. If you knew it was 100%, the romance wouldn't be there.

That said, I'm sure if you asked him when he was in a good mood, he would probably say its 150%.
