STYLETHREAD -- LET'S TALK SHOP!

I generally lean towards looser fitting/flowy tops/dresses.  I don't like my tummy pooch.  But what to wear on top with skirts like this shape?
 I bought a black canvas skirt (with pockets) in this kind of shape.  With all the gathers, it doesn't look right if a shirt goes over the gathers at the waist.  What kind of top would you wear with this style? TIA
