I loved it! I had really high expectations and they were totally met. I had a feeling right from the beginning that that was Jack in the future. I wonder who died?
I'm sad that Charlie died, but it wasn't a surprise. I'm so glad that Sayid, Bernard and Jin are alive though--I was seriously worried there for a little while.
I thought the episode was pretty good. Very suspenseful.
I actually suspected that Jack was in the future when they started showing him because I noticed that his cell phone was a *really* recent model. It bums me out to think that he's so f'ed up after the Island. And, it was killing me that they would show who had died that upset Jack so much.
I'm bummed that Locke is still alive. I realize it is an important part of the story, but I'm sick of the character.
I cried about Charlie too.
Hurlie was awesome!
My favorite part was Alex and Rosseau meeting each other tho. Such a small piece of the episode, but I've been really looking forward to that moment.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Loooooooved it personally, despite nobody asking "Why?" ever ever as usual .
I spent the whole time either saying "Holy Shit!" or "Hell, yes!". Sayid is still my favorite badass, snapping that guys neck with his hands tied behind his back . WHYYYYYYYYYYY doesn't Locke want Jack to call that boat? I really don't think it's because he's still on the 'We're not meant to leave' thing ...... Did Walt tell him something else? And who is in the coffin?!? (must! find! screencaps!) Who does Kate end up with?! I just might have to start perusing some of the crazy Lost boards to see what theories pop up ....
I really felt for Jack in the earlier flash forwards when his ex-wife showed up in the ER, but by the end I just felt, I dunno, pity? Very tsk tsk, too bad he threw it all away - it seems that's how it was intended so we could see his tortured soul and all that jazz, but I don't think the Jack-haters are going to like it very much!
jrhampt - Jack's dad isn't alive in the future methinks, it was just the oxycodone talking.

So, it's a man. Do any of you recognize the partially visible name?
Well of the existing characters we know, Locke is the only one that fits the scenario IMO. But that would mean that his real last name isn't Locke.
Or maybe we haven't met this character yet ..........?
It looked to me that the name was Ja___ or Jo___ Lantham. So, I thought it might be Jacob. Now that I look at it again, it must be a Jo___ cause the a in that font wouln't work.
ARgh....I'm never very confident about LOST guesswork, things can change quickly.
So, it's a man. Do any of you recognize the partially visible name?
Well, there is Jo____. So I'm guessing it's John Locke. That would also explain why nobody came to the viewing.
I was a bit dumb and didn't realize they were showing the future! So I was like how did Jack know Kate before?!!!
Well, I don't see how Charlie couldn't just go and get some damn scuba gear on and get the heck outa there! The island is mysterious so maybe he doesn't actually die forever!

But it says Jo___ -antham ..... did we ever get confirmation in one of Locke's flashbacks that his last name is indeed Locke, or could it be an alias like Hurley or Sawyer?

Loved the finale! I cheered when Hurley came and plowed those guys down with the VW van. I think the man in the coffin is John Locke, that would explain why no one showed up for the viewing. It's sad to see how Jack is so messed up after leaving the island, and how desperately he wants to go back. You can see he was trying to look for the island since he had maps all spread out on the floor when he called Kate. Eight months of waiting will be pure torture!
Elle, I agree, I think it was the drugs talking when Jack was talking about his dad. I was a little tipsy last night when I watched it, but I was thinking about it this morning and I think you're right.
I will definitely need to watch the episode again, but I think that this has been the most satisfying finale they've done yet. There was so much answered-- hello- they get off the island! And we all knew Charlie was going to bite it. And the actor's contract wasn't renewed for next season, so we know he's definitely dead. And I think that with Walt's reappearance, we might know that he and Michael got off the island. Walt was in new clothes and he didn't look dirty at all. And we already know that he can be in more than one place, or at least appear to be.
I love Hurley and the van. That was great! And Sayid kicks ass. Why is not the leader?
Anyway, I'm so pissed that we have to wait until February for the new season. That's a bunch of crap!
I figured that with a two hour finale, the writers would have thrown something in about that good looking couple who was buried alive a few episodes back. Or do you think they are just finished?
I also wanted some sort of reference to that weird four (?) toed statue that was seen by Sayid and Sun when they were on the boat last years finale.
How the heck is Jack going to explain that Naomi has been shot if and when the rescue comes?
I loved the episode, but two things disappointed me. I thought it was just too easy for the writers to have Mikhail to come alive again. I also thought that Jack in the future was sort of off character, a total weirdo, more tragic than I found believable based on what they have written him to be thus far. So....more back story on Jack to come I hope.

Also, I think Eyepatch Guy and Eyeliner Guy (Richard?) are immortal/very hard to kill off. I think they've somehow absorbed the island's healing properties in their time there (remember, they were there before Ben) and they can't die. Or something.
I also wonder about Jack's dad. His coffin was empty when they found it in the wreckage, right? Could he be alive somewhere thanks to the island?
I think that Jack, Kate and a few others get off the island, but some decision they inadvertently make results in the rest of the castaways' deaths. Hence his guilt and his estrangement from Kate in the future. But if this show is like Heroes, they can change the future, right?
Also, Walt is like 20 now. LOL.

I sorta think the guy in the coffin is Ben. I think since Jack is so desperate to get back to the island, he's devastated over Ben's death because it means they'll never find it again, maybe. I bet Kate is with Sawyer now.
I loved the Alex/Rousseau moment too. And I SOBBED when Charlie died!
