Does anyone have or have had extesions before? I have an appt on Thursday for a consultation but I'd love to hear others experiences with them. I'll be getting Great Lengths if that helps at all. I just want my hair thick and long for once!

My sister has extensions and they look awesome! Hers are the comb/clip kind, so she can remove them. I know several people who have had the bonded or weave variety who hated it, because it ruined their natural hair. Cali's are human hair, and they are cut/colored to match her regular hair. I can ask her the brand if you want. She's wearing them in her prom threadstyle post.

remind me, are great lengths the ones that are individual with keratin based bonds?
if not, what i recommend are the ones above. obv. being in the hair ind. i run across a LOT of people with extensions and the ones above are the most popular and don't ruin your hair due to the keratin based bonds. keratin is a natural human hair protein.
i thought i wanted these but a stylist of mine put a couple in to see how i liked it before we did the whole head. i would highly recommend doing that first b/c i didn't realize how much i run my hands through my hair during the day. i hated feeling the bonds in my hair and i ended up not doing it. one of my salons said that she has had a lot of people who were adamant about having the extensions and then came back in less than a week for her to take them back out b/c they couldn't stand the feeling of all those little bonds all over the hair.
doing something like Cali did is smart. you can put them in and take them out when you want them. Jessica Simpson's hair pieces were at a show i exhibited at a few weekends ago and were right across from our booth. i was really impressed at how easily they went into the hair. those you can get in human hair to have them cut and dyed to work with your haircut/color.
hth! and feel free to ask any questions- i might be able to answer since i was slightly obsessed with getting extensions for a while.
it depends on the look you're going for. like bex said if you or your dh like to run fingers through your hair, it can be tough. it feels weird. i would recommend bonding, but do to a reputable place. also as an fyi it can be really itchy the first few days. additionally if you put a lot of product in your hair your extensions (the bonded kind) will loosen quickly. the bond that they use breaks down with oil, so the more stuff you use, the quicker they come undone.
i have the bonded ones now (i am taking them out very soon). i think if you take care of your hair they won't cause damage.
