random question, but i've never been there and am going for work to shop the stores - any advice on what the vibe is like? i know la is a lot more relaxed than nyc but trying to figure out what to pack in my bag (we're only going for 2 days, 1 night)

any help would be appreciated (general or specific)! tia!

You may want to ask Lilykind, I believe she lives in LA :)

when are you planning on coming out here? just cause the mornings and evenings are cold/chilly so I would definately pack something to throw off and on easily through out the days. But thats just this week. You never know how the weather will be when you come out here.

The vibe varies widely depending on the neighborhood and shopping venue in general. Where will you be shopping?

the beverly center, robinson blvd (god, i hope i'm remembering correctly) - basically we're going for contemporary line shopping (kitson, lisa kline, etc)

i don't want to pack a crazy amt of stuff w/ me but honestly have no CLUE what the vibe is about except that it's more "relaxed" than nyc :(

Great jeans, tall heels, big sunglasses, edgy 'intentional bedhead' haircut. Everything else is pretty much open to interpretation!

Flat sandals and ballet flats are EVERYWHERE around here, which is great since you'll be doing some walking on Robertson. Jeans always are acceptable/workable, but a lot of girls have been wearing cute summery dresses with flat sandals and an "it" bag of some sort. Sunglasses are really important, more so for Robertson because Beverly Center is indoors.

I think the Beverly Center crowd is really diverse, but in general, the outfit/look I metioned above works really well. You can dress up a bit too since it's indoors, but we're really casual/flowy/relaxed.

If you have any more questions, let me know. smile

Lilykind is right on.  And make sure to bring a light jacket or sweater, because it's been cooler/foggier here lately.  Have fun!  If you have time around the Beverly Center, make sure to stop at Joan's on Third for cupcakes and Boule on La Cienega for pastries and chocolates!
