I had my hair highlighted about a month ago, and I am not crazy about the color that my highlights have become.. They are very subtle but look like a pure white almost. I was thinking that a color glaze would help but everywhere I go, they want to charge like $65-110.
I think this is redic, esp considering like a month ago I spent $140 on highlights! So anyways questions:
1) Is a glaze damaging? 2) Should I use a clear one or one with color? 3) Should I just buy a box in the drugstore and do it myself?
I get a glossing treatment every time my hair is colored, and I love it. If you are going to try DIY, I would start with one that has no color in it. I'd be afraid to add something with color to already colored hair...
$65 is not a bad price (it's all relative, I know). I can't remember what my salon charges - I don't pay for my hair treatments - but I think they are more than that for gloss.

a clear one isn't going to change how your color looks at all, but will make your hair shiny for like a week. (clear doesn't last as long as colored ones) glossings aren't bad for your hair at all, and i love the way they make my hair feel/look.
if you are going to DIY, i like clairol radiance, which is carried at sallys. (a lot of salons use this -- i've also used sebasiten cellophanes and paul mitchell pm shines and i think they are all about the same quality) it's mixed equal parts color + developer (it's a special one called "infuser"). get a shade lighter than you think you want to be because since they are demi-permanent, they go on a little darker. (but fade very quickly) you need to use these with heat so go as follows:
-shampoo -put on color -use a shampoo cap -run a dryer over your head for maybe 5-10 minutes -let cool -rinse out (no shampoo)
also, if you want to get this done at the salon, maybe wait until your next highlights, because a lot of times if it's an add-on, it will be a lot cheaper since you are getting blow-dried already.
i cannot comment on drugstore brands because i've never used them. let me know if you have any questions.
I just moved back from Germany and I always got the clea gloss there with a highlight. They only charged me 15 euro ( about 20 bucks) for the "clear shades" as they would say. I swear the shininess would last months. i havn't had my haior colored and desparetly need too, but I am sad now that it is so expensive here!!
