Lame question: How often do you change or wash your towels?

DH is hassling me because he thinks I should change towels more often (and no, his hands aren't broken).

I'm involving friends, family, coworkers and neighbors in this dispute. Your input is valued.

Daily Here. I only use white towels at home, and it makes it easy to just do a load of white towels every few days.

I use two fresh towels after each shower- one for my body, and one for my hair. I do reuse the one that I use on my hair by hanging it up and use it to dry my hands after I wash them.

I do a big cleaning of the bathroom once a week and I usually change the towels out then.

It depends. I have enough clothes that I usually don't have to do laundry for about 2 weeks at a time, and I don't because I'm really lazy. Plus, I don't have my own washer/dryer so I like to wait until I visit my parents instead of spending time in the skeezy laundromat down the street. So I guess it's every week or two, depending on how often I make it to my parents' house. But if I forget to bring my towels, I don't consider it a big deal. (I do have multiple towels, but I have two favorites so usually I'll keep using those rather than switch out with a new one) I mean, I only use a towel for 5 minutes a day tops, and it's just to soak up water on my clean body - after the shower is the cleanest I'll be all day, so I don't see a big deal in using it over and over. I wear my clothes for 16 hours at a time, and that's while I get progressively dirtier over the course of a day.

meee tooo.  i'll spin it as water conservation, really, i'm pretty lazy (laundromat- no washing machine here).
i think i'm pretty european when it comes to cleanliness, i don't see the need for daily showers either.

Yikes. I use a towel a lot before I wash it. I dunno..not like it really gets very dirty since I use it when I'm at my cleanest and then just hang it up to try.

I guess I also should add that after my shower I use my towel to wipe down the counter and I use it to wipe my hands/brushes on as I do my make up. And I generally use it again at night to dry my face after I wash it before bed.

not at all often enough. I hate having to pay to do laundry! (I swear they did something to the dryers so they need to run 3 cycles to get stuff dry). I wash my face in the shower though and usually just use my hands, so its not like I'm scrubbing my face with something dirty. I pretty much wash them when they start to smell or when I have extra room in a load of jeans.

Once we have our house with a laundry room, I'll do them much more often. Probably a towel load every week or 2, so new towel every other day?

I use them 2-3 times before washing.

Once I saw on Oprah that you may be "clean" after you get out of the shower but you're constantly sloughing off dead skin cells which create bacteria on a damp towel.  So I think they said you should was them every time you use them, twice at the most.  But..it doesn't seem to hurt anybody by using them longer!

Once every 3 days or so for us.

If your bathroom has good air circulation and you hang your towels up to dry, you really can get a week out of them before they start to grow mold and bacteria.  If your towel stays damp for awhile or is crumpled up, the mold/bacteria grows a lot faster than that .... bleh.gif
