Where can I find a vanity?
Permalink Closed

I am moving in with my boyfriend.  I used to do my makeup on my desk, but my desk will now be going into an office in our new apartment.  I would like to get a little vanity desk/stool but can't seem to find anything I like.  A mirror is not important to me because I plan on getting a one of those professional lit mirrors (since there are no lights in our bedroom).

I would need a dark brown or cherry brown to match my bedroom furniture.  Any ideas where I can get one around NYC or on the web?  My budget is around $100.

I LOVE mine and it's Quebeko. Google it and you can find it for the cheapest price. It is build-it-yourself, but EASY! they have good customer service and i've been happy with it. It even comes w/a little seat/stool w/storage!

ooh I like that one, its not too feminine and the storage idea is great. Did you get it at a store or order it? The cheapest I found is $249+$99 for the stool. Its probably a great price for this piece but my budget is a little strapped right now.

I ordered it online. I dont' recall from where. I have matching tables too. Really I just googled the line and chose the cheapest place.

Hopefully you can find it cheaper. Maybe you cld try calling and see if there's any free shipping or seeing if you could negotiate with one company...wortyh a try if you love it. The storage isn't huge, but perfect for make-up bags and small jewlery boxes and other misc stuff I have no where else to put. (not sure that last sentence was English)

I bought a small desk at an unfinished furniture shop for around $125, painted it to match my bedroom furniture and use it as a vanity. A lot of those places will stain or paint something for you for an additional charge.

I'm not sure where you could look for something less expensive, except maybe Ikea or Target.

Using a console table is another option, if it's the right height for you. I found this at target.com for 89.99:

this one is cute, from Bombay Co:
Prima Vanity$179

I use a little writing desk for mine, actually. It's pretty cute, but not a lot of storage.

you could do something like this for $99, and find an inexpensive ottoman and mirror at TJ Maxx or something...
Traverso Console

this ottoman is on sale as well for $59
Winfield Ottoman
and this mirror is $50...
Octagonal Mirror

Maybe you could find something cool at a second-hand shop.  Or, perhaps you could do some yard sale-ing on an upcoming weekend.  A little secretary's desk could be cool (if you like traditional furniture).

Thanks guys, I actually like these ideas better! We had to throw away what we thought was going to be our bedroom furniture so now we have to go shopping for dressers and such.. I want to wait to see what we pick out so that my vanity can match. I like the idea of putting one together myself, maybe I'll find some pieces while we're shopping for the bedroom stuff.

and I'm glad to see that others have a vanity. when I was searching, majority of the time I would find childrens vanity sets... and I thought what do they need a vanity for???
