I need suggestions for bedding, curtains, accessories and an overall color scheme. I'd like to avoid any more light blue since my living room is blue also. My initial thought was to do gray but would that look off with the brown in the rug? Also I already have 2 chocolate and white striped planters. Should I just stick with browns? Or do navy? I was thinking of picking up on the Japanese theme of the rug (plum blossoms) and blowing up some of my photos of Japan.
Oooh, that rug is really cool. My thoughts are to use brown and mustard or gold (whatever is in the rug). Maybe a brown comforter/quilt and then get mustard/gold shams.
The rug is great. I think a rug is the first thing a room needs.
What I really like is how you can change up the room for the seasons - go with gold bedding in the spring/summer and chocolate in the winter. I can see not wanting to overdose on light blue. I'd pick up the neutral taupe in curtains just so they'll be workable all year. Marigold/orange for accents as well as white-white. What color are your walls?
i think i'd do somthing really pure like whites and creams + silver or white and creams + gold. simple but rich. i think your chocolate/white striped planters would look really good too. maybe use the chocolate as a small accent color.
how big is the rug? how much of the room will it cover?
Thanks for all the suggestions! I haven't even moved into the apartment yet but I'm trying to get all my ideas in order first, especially if I want to paint the walls. Right now they are just white. Originally I wanted to put wallpaper on one wall but none of the patterns I like work with this rug. The rug might cover about 1/2 the floorspace total. Maybe I'll try cream or white for the summer and then switch to more browns in the cold weather.
