What do you girls eat when you're trying to lose weight? I'm just really bad at coming up with meal ideas, so I usually resort to whole wheat pasta, and it's getting old. Any healthy meal ideas would be appreciated (even better if they're easy to make). TIA!

I don't have meal ideas per se, but I lose tons of weight when I omit booze, eat brown rice and tofu for dinner and have a bowl of Kashi for my late night snack.
I cut out the drinks ( wine, beer, ) Coffee , and stick with water. I also cut my portion sizes down and try to eat smaller meals at dinner.
Other than that I just try to make smart food choices. Instead of fried I get baked or grilled, instead of french fries I get fresh veggies , and I try to eat a salad with every meal also. ( lunch and dinner)
For snacking, it's so easy to forget how filling a piece of fruit can be. Also, buy some dried fruit if you don't have a fridge at work. Also, breakfast bars can be a good snack if they're not full of sugar. I hate nuts, but I've tried some that are nuts and honey and dried fruit bits and they are fantastic
About what TO eat, there's an endless variety of things you can stuff in a tortilla. This time of year you can grill veggies and add hummus or black or red beans, plus salsa, shredded lettuce or cabbage, and pretty much eat a different wrap/burrito every day of the week. We also grill veggie burgers and have a salad and a side, such as roasted potatoes. We grill zucchini, yellow squash, eggplant, onion, tomato, fennel, yams, portobellos...the list goes on. Don't forget corn on the cob, asparagus, beets, and avocados to make meals interesting.
Soup + Salad is a meal too. It's great if you can add grated carrots, squash, cucumbers, etc. to salads just to get the extra punch from raw foods. Lots of benefits there.
Since you asked about weight loss, here are the sanest ideas I know of specifically relating to weight loss (versus general health, which is a different subject):
- Cut out sodas.
- Cut out cow dairy. Goat or sheep milk is OK.
- Cut out meat (or at least cut back). Meat is high in fat, high in calories, and has no fiber.
- Read the labels in the store. If something contains corn syrup (high-fructose or otherwise), or hydrogenated oil (partially or otherwise), leave it on the shelf.
If you want more detail or suggestions, ask me. These days I'm lukewarm about giving out food advice that isn't asked for.
