Okay so I usually work out at the gym during my lunch hour then come back to the office and eat my lunch. My problem is that it doesn't hold me until dinner. I don't know if it's because I work out at lunch and I metabolize my lunch really fast or what. I need something healthy and reasonably low calorie. Any ideas?
I had thought about apples and peanut butter but apples are NEVER filling to me, I can eat an apple and feel more hungry than I did before I ate it I could do celery and pb. Any suggestions?
a handful of nuts (although those are higher calorie, I like them because walnuts and almonds not only taste good but are also supposed to help lower cholesterol).
I really love the Trader Joe's trail mixes. My fave is the Nuts about Antioxidants, which has almonds slivers and dried berries. I handful is 120 calories, but I find it keeps my energy up for quite a while.
i love bars - either luna, flavor & fiber, or kashi (the ones that come in the box) - they all are high in fiber which really helps sustain me until dinner.
Thanks everyone, I bought some almonda and some string cheese yesterday. I'm gonna try out some of the othe suggestions next week and play around with what really takes the hunger away.
I bought some Fiber One chewy bars yesterday, and they were actually really good. They have 35% of your daily value of fiber. However, I read online that they have partiallu hydrogenated oil and corn syrup, so maybe they're not so great for you.
I also like Kashi TLC granola bars.

For the sake of convenience, Amy's makes I think four different canned veggie chilis. The black bean version is really high in fiber. All are vegan and pretty good for canned food. Meatless chili or bean soup delivers the fiber and energy without the fats and cholesterol, so that's always a good bet for lunch.
If that's too heavy, Jrhampt made me think of edamame too, perhaps with Miso soup for a lunch.
Hummus is pretty satisfying too, maybe with crackers or pita wedges.
I'm not sure there's any better snack than chips 'n' salsa. Sometimes that's breakfast for me. To me calorie counting is irrelevant if my diet is meat/dairy-free.
I like Craisins for work snack because they don't need to go in the fridge. Also, Pirate's Booty is really good! I don't know how low-cal you want your snack to be. My bag says it's 135 calories/serving and there are four servings per bag.
