I just got my first pair of jeans altered (just had the length taken up a bit) and it costed me $21.00!!!!!!! I couldn't believe this! Am I over reacting?

It's $30 here if you re-attach the original bottom.

There is a tailor here in town that charges pant alterations BY THE LEG!

My mama is a seamstress and she only charges $10.00 per pair for a tricky-hem (original cuff re-attached).  Seriously, it takes such a short amount of time to do.  Of course she is insanely back-logged with just my friends/coworkers dropping things by...all of which is totally off-topic.

Um, I get a majority of my clothes altered.  I'm a shorty that doesn't have shorty proportions.

I ALWAYS need pants and jeans hemmed I seem to be a little too tall for petites and just too short for regular length. It's really a hassle.

I SHOULD get more things altered though - coming from a seamstress family, I can always have it done, but I have been known to have new clothes that need a little tweaking or hemming and waiting a year to do it!

When I worked at Nordstrom's though I had a customer who would alter EVERYTHING! She always loked like a million bucks! She even would buy sz 12 (she was a 2) and alter it ti fit her! Patience though is a virtue and I prefer immediate gratification!
