I'm in desperate need of a new gel that would work for my frizzy/curly hair. I want some thing that will activate my curls, have a strong hold and keep the frizz under control while in humid climate. Any suggestions?
i use biolage gel mixed w/ a smoother. it works really well and tames the frizzies away.
today i actually used john frieda's starlit waves - it makes my hair a little crunchy (but i also didn't dry it as much this morning) but my hair has kept its curl and isn't dropping at all.
I like Phytodefrisant - you can get it at Sephora. I have wavy hair that frizzes easily, and this stuff is magical. It doesn't really activate curls though. If I want my hair to be curlier, I mix it with Aveda Brilliant Forming Gel.
I have curly hair, and I usually mix a curl product (like Kerastase Elasto Curl creme) with gel. I don't use a curl-enhancing gel, I just go for the ones that don't make my hair crunchy. I don't find that gels made specifically for curly hair work if you use them alone, because you just end up with hard, crunchy hair.

i just got something called "climate control"; the brand is ouidad, and they only make stuff for curly hair. i really like it, but it does make hair crunchy -- i have to use a finishing pomade (also from ouidad) when my hair is dry to take out the crunchies. but i'm getting the most compliments on my hair that i've had in a long time.

OUIDAD!!!! i have been using their products for 4 years and it is absolutely the best curly hair porducts i have ever tried and believe me, i have tried them all. my hair is very curly, very frizzy and only gets worse in the humidity. i suggest you log on to the ouiad website (ouidad.com) and do some research to determine the best line of products for your hair type. i also use the curl quencher gel and pomade and like i said, it's the best. also, the lady who created this product (ouidad) also created a way of cutting curly hair, called carving and slicing, there are only about 6 or 7 salons in the country that are certified, but i highly suggest that if you live near a salon, go get the cut. it makes such a huge difference. good luck!!
I just recently started using Bumble and Bumble Defrizz and I'm addicted. It's clear and serum-like, and it bascially just smoothes down any frizzies without weighing down my hair. I've tried most "curling creams" and they just make my hair heavy. I use Defrizz on dry hair, not wet, because using it on wet hair would defeat the purpose of getting those frizzies you only see when it's dry.
I ABSOLUTELY swear by the JOhns Frieda products. Iuse the frizz ease serum and their hairspray......and my hair has truly never looked better. They have a curl activating formula too. Also Frutis makes a great root lifter that I have learned is great and keeps you from overplaying with the rest of your hair....

ouidad! for my 30th birthday (this friday) my mom's present to me was a haircut with ouidad herself at the main salon here in nyc. it was very cool walking in there and seeing every other person had curly hair -- i felt like i was in a secret cult! it was a great experience overall. i'd highly recommend a ouidad salon to anyone with curly hair.
Graham Web Making Waves is the best thing I've ever used for my curly hair. Before finding this product I would always blowdry my hair straight. Then last summer it was just too dang hot so I tried this out and I was so happy--it made my hair shiny and held the curl well without making it crunchy!! What I did was section my hair off, apply product, then twist my hair around my finger to shape the curl, then when it was all done I would let my hair sit for 10-15 min (doing my makeup in the mean time) and then when my hair and the product was mostly dry I'd fluff/scrunch my hair a bit and Voila!
Sometimes if you use too much of the product it can make the hair a little crunchy but scrunching it once it's dry helps take away the crunchiness.
