i applied for a cosmetics job with nordstrom and will be interviewing with the Trish McEvoy executives for the next round of interviews. i've never interviewed for anything in this field and have no idea what type of suits i should be looking for -- i've only interviewed for business and legal positions, and all of my suits are extremely boring and conservative. of course, my dream would be to purchase a suit by Theory, but i'm reluctant to spend so much on something that may not get too much wear. i'd really appreciate any suggestions on where to look -- TIA!
I would stick with your basic suit in black or grey or brown, whatever you have. Then buy a really nifty blouse - like say a lilac sheer ruffly number layered under the blazer, then get some really cute shoes and a great bag (if you don't have one already).
Agree with XtinaStyles. A basic suit with smart accessories should be great. Make sure you are sporting a fresh face in soft, springy, natural colors and equally pretty-but-professional hair.
Check out Trish's "Spring Look" at Neiman's site and information about Trish at Nordstrom's site. Use knowledge of the brand and the woman behind it to target your audience and show that you are well-informed and willing to take initiative by researching (which I'm sure you probably have already done). Sorry, the career counselor in me is peeking out.
