I can't think of a place where you could possibly get a chair like that for $150 a piece. Choosing your own fabric makes it more expensive too.

I think that is a arm chair in the French Neoclassical style, aka Louis XVI style. Check out ebay. If you can find them for a good price it may be worth it to get them and take them to get reupholstered.

In addition to Ebay I'd also recommend Craiglist and checking out local estate sales and auctions. I live in NYC so antique and vintage furniture prices are through the roof but most of my furniture is stuff my parents picked up at auctions and sales outside the city for reasonable prices.

Where do you live? I ask because I saw some chairs VERY similiar to this at the Pottery Barn Outlet in Ohio (it is in between Cincy and Columbus). They were under $200 for sure and I think they are still doing 30% on chairs too.

Also, there is a Ballard's outlet in Cincinnati. Maybe you need to make a road trip?

My parents used to be antique dealers. I think you could find that style cheaper at an estate sale, yard sale, etc. and then either have them reupholstered or diy. Like cc said, the more rural the better. My parents did all of their hunting in small midwestern towns. I went with them once to a 2 day estate sale in a really small town in the middle of Nebraska. It was a lot of fun and very interesting.

these chairs are sort of similar -- $179 for two. I am sure you can have them upholstered for less than $400.
