I am sure this has been talked about before..but here goes...
I just got my treadmill today, and I am determined to use it, with healthy eating, and lose this weight once and for all. I have about 40 goos lbs to lose. ( thanks children hehe) BUT I have done so many diets, that my mind is truly messed up now. Low carb? Low fat? Low cal?? I was intending to break out my Weight Watchers books and get started but I know I lose so much faster when I do low carb ( despite the way it makes me feel ...which is bad) I am not sure where to begin.....I know WW works....but I lost 20 lbs in 3 months on Atkins one time..... ( although it is back now hehe) Has anyone lost some weight and care to share what they did? And advice????

I always do ww when I want to lose weight. It is easiest for me to follow as far as what to eat and how much and its always the foods I already like to eat - veggies, fruits, whole grains, etc. I also like how healthy I feel when I'm on that diet and my skin and nails tend to perk up. I'm back on it right now. I am on day 4 and I've already run into the problem of eating a lot of healthy choices and barely meeting my points requirements for the day.
Honestly if you feel good on WW but the weight loss is slow I'd go with it over Atkins where you will lose weight fast but feel horrible on it. If you aren't feeling good you won't stick with it and you certainly won't want to work out. Just my 2 cents.
ATkins has been amazing for me. I have lost tons of weight, kept it off, dont feel deprived and I have been on this lifestyle for 4 years now. I have friends who have done it and are still on it, and then I have friends who it just wasnt feasible for them.
Just because it works for me, That doesnt mean it will work for you. Atkins never ever works for people with quick fix mentalitys , or for people that NEED carbs. Thats ok. It wont work for everyone.
That being said I wouldnt recomend low carb to you. It seems to me that you need the carbs and cant cut them out. So I would definitly recomend WW in your situation. You might loose the weight more slowly but at least it can be a lifestyle that you could stay on.
I really believe that it is not about being on a diet. It's about eating sensibly and with common sense. Get your daily servings of fruit (4), veggies (5), whole grains (3-6), 2-3 high calcium foods, 8 glasses of water and tea. Weekly servings 5 or more beans, 5 of nuts, 2 servings of fish. Keep a food and exercise journal (I got one when I signed up for prevention magazine's email newsletters along with the daily serving info I listed). Subsitute some of the things you may eat now for healthier versions like whole grain vs. white for pastas, breads, rice. Don't drink soda (even diet). Drink water (add a slice of lemon or cucumber) or tea or vegetable juice. Don't ever deprive yourself either. Cut out salt and add tasty seasonings instead (I love mrs. dash). I hope this helps a little! Good luck!
WW core program! It has all the goodness of WW but its a low carb-no-counting option. Not so much Atkins low carb though- more like south beach cause you can eat whole grains and such. I was stalling on WW and switched to Core and I'm addicted now- I feel so healthy and I'm losing wight again!
