My adventures in wedding dress shopping
Permalink Closed

This has been a long week of wedding planning. I'm on spring break and since I'll be busy this summer studying for bar, I wanted to do get as much done as possible. I booked my wedding planner and the photographer. I'm really excited about these 2 vendors because I know I'm in great hands.

Even though I'm not getting married until next March, I started dress shopping just to see what's out there. I looked in 5 stores and found 2 dresses I love. I'm not actually going to purchase anything until August because there are still a few more local stores I want to check out and I might like some of the new styles coming in. BUT, I doubt I'll find anything I love as much as these.

Dress #1. It's by Anne Barge. I didn't think I wanted anything with a sash, but I loved this. The sash I tried on wasn't purple but just a shade darker than the lace and it was lovely. The salesgirl tied it so it crisscrossed in the front and pinned a brooch in the back. I LOVE that it isn't strapless (like the majority of dresses). It was super flattering and comfortable (not too heavy or hot). We paired it with a long, heavily laced mantilla veil and I was in love. Also, before I even had a dress my mom bought me a white fox stole and it would pair so nicely with this (I would only wear it for pictures after the ceremony or and the final getaway). I really think this may be the one. Sorry for the massive pics.

Dress #2. These are both by Rivini. This is 2 seperate pieces..the strapless wedding gown and the lace coat. Obviously the lace coat is what makes the ensemble. It was SO old world beautiful and just different which made me love it. The annoying thing is that essentially, it would be like buying 2 wedding dresses... and neither are cheap. And unfortunately I'm very hot natured so if I took it off I would just have a more simple dress underneath (I'm not a fan of plain and simple). My mom knows a really good seamstress so we may look into having a coat made. This also looks great with the heavily laced mantilla veil. Of course, with this I wouldn't be able to wear the fox stole. But it's ridiculously gorgeous and I can't stop thinking about this one either.

That first dress is to die for!  I tried on something similar when I was searching for my dress - I Anne Barge!

omg... i can see why you're having trouble deciding :)

i LOOOOOOOOVE #2, but i think #1 is more classic/timeless. if i were to flip back and look through photos in 40 years, i think i'd like #1 more than #2.

I love #1!!

#2 is really pretty too, but kind of gives me "second wedding" vibes...I think the style may be better suited for someone older? i'm sure you could rock it in a very vogue way though.

They are both beautiful.  I'm more partial toward number 1 - the lines are just so elegant.  It will look lovely in your pictures today and 70 years from now.

Sigh - thanks for the nostalgia of wedding dress shopping - it was a close second to cake tasting as my favorite wedding experience!

I agree with all the others who said that #1 seems so you. They are both beautiful though.
