Do you need TV or music on to fall asleep, or do you prefer silence?
This is a constant struggle for me w/my BF because I can't fall asleep unless I have total silence (or white noise.) He can't fall asleep without music or TV, so I have to wait for him to fall asleep and then turn it off.
I don't need complete silence to fall asleep. If someone else is watching t.v. in another room (volume not too high) I can fall asleep as long as it's quiet in my bedroom.
It has to be totally silent for me to fall asleep. SO on the other hand, needs the TV on to fall asleep. It used to be a problem, but we work different schedules and he usually comes to bed after me now, so it's no longer an issue.
I can fall asleep pretty much anywhere. I have actually fallen asleep at rock shows more than once. DH usually watches tv until his eyes get pretty heavy, and I'm fast asleep by then.
I can fall asleep in either circumstance, but I prefer silence.
When I was in college, I downloaded an alarm clock that went off on my computer and wore earbuds to sleep so that I didn't have to wake up my roomies with it. I also slept with music because I was trying to drown out my roommates late night activities...
i can't sleep with a tv on or with people talking. i prefer the sound of a fan so i have a small one that i take with me if i stay at other people's houses. it works great to drown out other noises that would normally keep me up.

i was having problems getting to sleep recently and i tried a relaxation CD with quiet music and rain sounds which seemed to help. lately i've had a little fan on in my room. i think i think too much when its too quiet.
I can do either, but find that I am more rested if I have complete silence. I think the tv or music works its way into my subconscious and I have weird, restless dreams.
But I can sleep anytime, anywhere. I was kicked out of a bar once for sleeping. I wasn't even drunk.
I think it varies for me; sometimes I'll leave the TV on, and Joe will be like 'turn the TV off", then there are times where I like it completely silent. Oh well. I'll go w/the TV on. LOL I don't need music, but sometimes it helps.

Ditto. (Watch--tonight I won't be able to sleep. )
I prefer it to be quiet, but classical music on quietly is nice too. I can't really sleep if the tv is blaring in the other room, but other than that, I'm good. Lights on, lights off, quiet, music, whatever--when I'm out, I'm out.
i can fall asleep anywhere (on a bus/train/car/plane/standing up/karaoke bar/cafeteria), but i need the radio/tv on. but the noise can't be too loud, or else i'll start paying attention and get caught up in the show/program.

That is hilarious!
If I'm really tired I can sleep with or without noise (although I always sleep w/a fan on). But if I need to unwind I put the tv on and I'm out like a light, helps keep my mind from wondering on a million other things.
