Rakku Shoe wheel
Permalink Closed

I share a smaller (4x8) walk in closet with my BF, so space is kind of at a premium. I ordered the Rakku shoe wheel about a month ago to alleviate the situation.

www.rakkudesigns.com

I ordered a full shoe wheel in black.

The operation is still pretty small. I moved right after I ordered it and was able to call Rakku on a Saturday afternoon to re-route the package. I talked to Lisa, who gave me her contact info. She was super-helpful and really nice during the whole transaction.

It comes flat-packed like IKEA furniture, so I had to assemble it myself. The instructions are in IKEA-graphics, but I'm fairly handy and it took me about 45 minutes to get it fully assembled and filled with shoes.

Since I have so many shoes and not enough space, I find the shoe wheel does a great job of keepting dust out without taking up so much room. I can fit 30 pairs of shoes in the same amount of space I would've used for 10 Container Store shoe boxes (which I am not knocking...that's how I'm having BF store his 10 pairs of shoes)

If you want to take out a particular pair, all you have to do is turn the wheel and take the shoes out of their respective pocket. I haven't had any issues with the wheel...it turns nicely.

If anyone has more questions, I'd be hapy to answer them.I think this is a pretty great product.

I've seen this before and been very very curious- but skeptical to say the least. I will have a lot less room closet wise once we move in a week but I might have to give this little wheel a try.

Have you noticed any flattening or scrunching of your shoes? Perhaps of the softer heels or flats?

My shoes have all survived quite nicely, but I took out the athletic shoes. I don't particularly care for the amount of space they take up on the shoe wheel. The rest of my shoes have done very well.

For example, my Chanel flats have very soft leather and are starting to get a little brittle with age (they're 20 years old). They're constantly being taken in and out of the wheel and are no worse for the wear.

If I'm worried about a certain part of shoes, I will put them away in a dustbag first and then put them in the shoe wheel.

Thank you for posting this. I have been trying to figure out a way to save space with my shoes and this looks like it might be a good solution.

I looked at it on the website and it said you have to pull the shoes through the elastic bands-is that a pain to do?

It's not any more difficult than opening a Container Store shoe box. The elastic bands have enough give in them so that you can fit shoes through them easily.
