Did Anyone do Outside Catering?
Permalink Closed

Ideally, I would like to have outside catering for my wedding (Indian food). But the prices are outrageous-- most hotels and halls are quoting me almost twice as much than I would have to pay if I were eating their food. Did anyone do outside catering? I'm so frustrated! :(

I did, but the hall I used didn't have their own so I'm not really much of a help.

I'm actually using in-house catering - but I suggest you post this question to the local board for your area on The Knot.  Maybe they can help you find a nice location that does not charge extra for outside catering.

Well, the food is often the most expensive part, so that's where the hotels would be making their money from you, not from the fee you're paying to use their facilities.  If you're not using them for food, they charge you more to use the facility to make it worth their while.

When we looked there were plenty of places who didn't offer in-house catering at all (mostly private-ish estates) - I think that would be your best bet.  Have you looked into having your reception in a cool museum or anything like that?  IMO you're much less limited in your location options if you don't need in-house catering!

Also try googling 'your city + wedding' and see what comes up.  It helped us alot when we found one that had alllllll the local vendors listed, a blurb about them, and their phone/site/email in one place!
