I used to have a pretty horrible commute (about an hour and a half) and I wouldn't get home until around 6:30 or 7. Then, I'd typically just cook dinner, clean-up a bit, watch some TV, hang out with the BF, read, and go to sleep.
Now, I'm at home by 5, and I'm finding I have quite a bit of free time. I've been taking one class a quarter at the community college and I have a 1-day a week part-time job after work. But even with those things, I find myself with quite a lot of time. I'm all for relaxing and just hanging out, but ideally I'd like to be doing more. Sometimes I have this feeling that I'm spending too much time just lounging around at the end of the day.
I'm just kind of curious how other people spend their evenings after work?
I unfortunatly dont have alot of free time after work.If I did I would suggest maybe going to the gym, taking a dance class, reading a book , the possibilites are so endless.
Right now I work pretty long hours and don't generally leave the office until 6:30 or 7:00 on a good day. So, I'm not home until around 7:00. I either stop at the gym on my way home (and get home at 8:00).
But, if I were to have a job where I could leave at 5:00 or 5:30 every day, I would try to join a book group or a volunteer organization. I would love to read more, try new recipes, etc!
Depends. I have aikido lessons Monday and Wednesday. I love cooking, so Tuesdays and Thursdays I usually go home and play computer games or cook something fun. Fridays I try to go out with friends after work or cook something really ambitious if no one is doing anything.
I go to the gym to work out, or if the weather is nice, I might go for a run outside at a little park nearby. I usually try to do some chores during the week, so that on the weekends I have more free time. I also like to sew, so I usually have some sort of project going on that I work on too. To wind down before bed I usually read for a few minutes.
I just play around doing normal things, like cooking, cleaning, homework, relaxing, etc. I used to get dinner with friends and spend a couple hours with them every evening, but the past few months everyone has been harder to get together so I spend a lot more time at home alone now.

I'm home by 4:30, so sometimes I stop somewhere and shop/browse/return things before I go home. The rest is all basically "hang out" activities. Play my brothers's Wii, read mags, cuddle with my dog, watch TV shows I've recorded. After dinner I always walk the dog, then after that I usually watch TV or movies.

I hate living in LA sometimes. Now I have to leave the office at 7ish PM to avoid traffic and I don't get home until 7:30 - 8:00. I usually work out, cook dinner, watch TV and surf the net before going to bed.
If I had more time, I'd probably take more gym classes or dance lessons. I was big on ballroom and folk dancing in college so I'd love to get back into it. I also explored shopping neighborhoods a lot when I got off work earlier, since the boutiques I liked always close by 7.
Right now I've gotten pretty used to coming home from work around 6:30, taking my bulldog out for a walk, cleaning up a bit, and then settling down to study for the GRE and/or hang with FH.
I've really been wanting to start doing some new things after work, and I think that after I take the GRE on the 26th I'm going to start looking into taking some classes... either photography, calligraphy, or interior design. I also really enjoy going to night lectures at the university. I haven't been to any in a while, but they have some amazing speakers on really interesting topics that keep my mind energized, especially after certain days at work when my brain feels numb. I really need to start going to those again!
I am glad you posted this question, 'cause i'm trying to make an effort to not go straight home after work. I get out at 3:30. Today I went out to a twilight (4:20) movie with some friends. I also like to meet people for coffee/tea or do errands.
my schedule varies, but typically i come home, work out, read a bit in the tub, cook dinner, surf the web while drinking a glass of wine, waiting for my bf to come home which is usually later. i think it's perfect for me because i'm a bit productive, but i still get "me" time before my bf comes home. we he gets home we usually spend the rest of the evening together watching t.v or what have you.
sometimes if i get home early, i'll shop the neighborhood boutiques or do happy hour with my friends.
i try to do grocery shopping/Target, etc... with my bf so that he'll pay! so sometimes we do that after he gets home.
my schedule is pretty unpredictable, so i really can't take a class or anything.

I get home between 6 and 7, usually. I get home and clean up a bit (clean my lunch dishes, unload dishwasher, etc). I fix dinner and go to the gym. I usually watch some tv, take a shower and it's time for bed. I wish I had more time.

at the moment, all i seem to do is eat, sleep, internet/tv and work on essays/assignments. for some reason, me and the bf end up going to the supermarket a few times a week - we never seem to get everything we need in one trip
I usually get home around 6 and most nights, I usually just come home, play around on the computer, do a workout dvd or something, eat dinner, putz around the house, etc. We've been going out a bit more now too, which is good. We'll do trivia night at a bar downtown on Tuesdays and then we'll go to our neighborhood bar about once a week to watch a hockey or basketball game. I like going out every few days, but I'm such a home-body by nature that I like to just come home and be done with my day. I'll do a bit more yard work once daylight savings is here and the weather is a bit warmer.
Well, sometimes I will run and check our POBox, or stop by one of my thrift stores around the corner from my job. BUT! If I go straight home, it's usually TV, reading, or exercising. Joe and I may go out to eat dinner, but that's pretty much it. If I go straight home, I'm there a little after 5:00.

I get off of work at 5, but don't get home until about 6. I usually make dinner, take my dog for a walk--weather permitting, run some errands, grocery shop (i like how there are less crowds during the week), watch tv or read, sleep.
