I dyed my hair jet black yesterday and got a new cut w/out losing too much length. I think it's just been too much color changes in the past half a year - my hair is soooo dry and the ends tangle even after the trim.
I already use really thick and good conditioner and the frizz ease hair treatment that comes in a jar. Anyone else have a good recommendation? One hairdresser has told me to put olive oil on it an sleep with it. Anyone try this before? How would you really get the oil out?
I assume you would just be able to shampoo the olive oil out.
I really like Sunsilk's deep conditioner, it's in a pink tub. It seems to make my hair feel nicer, although the results do not last long.
I also really like Kerastase Bain Satin shampoo, which is quite moisturizing.
ETA: I also really like the new Vive Pro NutriGloss line, though it doesn't come in a colored hair option. I alternate using this, Kerastase Bain Satin, and a haircolor protective shampoo.

I had the same problem. I used to be platinum blond, then went dark brown..and I have to dye it every 3 months. My hair has been through a lot.
I've actually had the best luck with going totally natural and using organic products. I think they're really gentle on the hair and don't use any weird chemicals that will strip/coat/destroy the hair. I use http://www.giovannihaircare.co.nz/about.htm
My hair has never been healthier...it is unbelievably soft and shiny.
I've tried the olive oil concoction and I don't know if I'd exactly say I recommend it.... it did leave my hair really soft (I left it on for about 20 minutes I think) but be prepared to feel like one big greaseball if you do it! I think my mistake was that I put it on my whole head... maybe if you only put it on the ends it wouldn't be so bad though.
Try using sweet almond oil instead of olive oil. It's about $7 in health food stores. I just did it last night and it made a real difference (I only put it on the ends) and it wasn't greasy or flat after I washed it out. I tried the olive oil once and it took three days to shampoo out.
