My dad has been snoring his whole life, and as he gets older, I'm worried about the health issues that might be behind it. Does anyone know anything that might relieve this? I think he has high blood pressure. He's not very overweight though- maybe by 20 lbs or so. He doesn't love his job, but i'm not sure that he's super stressed or anything. He snores LOUDLY- my mom can't sleep in the same room. Help!!
My FIL had this problem and had a sleep study done on him. You just go and let them monitor you while you sleep. It turned out his was some kind of medical problem and they gave him some type of breathing machine he has to wear while he sleeps. (Sorry I don't know the name of the problem or the machine ) He no longer snores....but now my MIL does lol. Now he has to deal with what she has dealt with for the last however many years lol. Your father should talk to his dr. there may be something they can do to help.

My husaband and i don't sleep together either cause he snores very loud too. We know he has sleep apnea, which is really bad cause you can die from it. They dont breath for a while and gasp for air when sleeping. He also never feels rested cause his body never shuts all the way down like it should. No naps really help that either! I know the machine costs around a thousand dollars without medical insurance.
sorry I didn't answer your question. but you might want to ask your mom how hes snoring and breathing is at night and go from there. I know if he goes to a doctor that they'll want to examine him while he sleeps if it sounds like he might have sleep apnea

does the machine help with sleep apnea? how is it hooked up to you?
i was just about to post this when the internet died! i think the machine you're referring to is CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure). it's a mask that goes over your nose and mouth that you strap onto your head, and it delivers air into your airway and the pressure keeps your airway open. here's a picture:
