Was anyone else dissappointed with this episode? Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoyed it but it was so predictable! I liked seeing Denny again, I loved how Christina cried at the end, and I thought Meredith's goodbye with her mother was very fitting, but nothing happened that really surprised me.
I know a lot of people are disappointed w/this show lately, but I loved it. I think we all knew that Meredith wouldn't die. I expected her to live, and expected that her mom would be the one to die. I really liked her afterlife experience w/Denny...I think it made her realize some things about her life.
I totally cried when Christina came into the room and told them all to try again. Derek made me cry again too - Patrick Dempsey's acting has been superb the last two episodes.
Oh and I really liked that George finally stood up to Izzy. She may be right about Callie, but he's right about her lying and being his friend. She actually annoyed me in this episode. Anyhow, I guess I wasn't disappointed because I expected what happened to happen and I was ok w/that.
I was totally disappointed...it was so predictable. You could see the Mom thing coming a mile away...so much for the "devastating conclustion". I also hated Addison opening the door to McSteamy...I find the Alex/Addison thing much more interesting.
On another note, has anyone else heard talk of a spin off, centering around Kate Walsh's character (Addison)...I'd be really disappointed if that happened because obviously that would set up Addison leaving Seattle. I like the character but I'm not sure I like her enough for another 1 hour show.
I was disappointed too. I thought the whole "caught in limbo" thing with the guy who died in the bomb episode and the girl who was impaled was really corny, especially when the girl started bleeding out and everything got all melodramatic. I thought towards the beginning Ellen Pompeo's acting was really cheesy as well when she was in that limbo state. It got better towards the end, but I was having trouble watching in the beginning. During the part where Meredith woke up and found Derek standing at her door, I had to laugh though... I would think that after someone you love comes back from being dead for 3 hours you have more to say than "Hey." LOL.
My favorite part of the show was definitely when Izzie stopped in the hall and closed her eyes as she felt Denny there with her. When he said "Izzie...", I lost it and started bawling. It was so good to see them together again! I always cry when it comes to Izzie and Denny.

I feel the same way. I knew that Meredith would eventually wake up somehow, and after watching the beginning and hearing the whole "sometimes miracles happen" message, I knew she would wake up by the end of the show. Yes, it was predictable but I knew it would be and that's why I was fine with it.
I feel like Grey's has wasted at least two episodes with this crappy storyline. And I also felt the whole heaven/afterlife/limbo, whatever scense were corny.
The only parts I liked were when Christina stood at the foot of Meredith's bed and said, "Try again!" in a voice that didn't even sound like her, it was so emotion-filled. And the part with Addison and Mark...I thought, Oh, poor Alex! But it will be interesting to see what happens with Addison and Mark. I think there's definitely unfinished business there.
The part at the end, with Izzie and Denny, almost made this ep worthwhile. Almost. That was heartbreaking. And Patrick Dempsey looked super-hot - I love to see him out of his scrubs. He has such a boyish charm!

Mine too! I loved the Izzy-Denny story line and miss it badly so it was nice to have that little bit in last night's episode.
*confession*-I wouldn't have minded if Meredith had died....she's not really a big part of why I like the show. And her crying and saying she couldn't breath when she was in limbo was so fake and not believable at all for me.
The Izzie and Denny thing at the end made the whole episode worth while and not a waste of my time. I wouldn't have cared if Merideth died either. Izzy should be the main character on the show! Katherine Heigel has more star power anyways.
Yeah, Meredith is not my favorite either, but I'd have been disappointed if she died. I liked the episode overall, and had not predicted Meredith's mom would be the one to die, although it made complete sense.
I agree, I'd have more to say besides "hey" after my significant other came back from the dead! Patrick Dempsey was really great.
I also heard there might be a spinoff for Addison. It would be sad to see her go. Apparently they're shooting a two-part episode that centers around her, and that's what would serve as the pilot. Taye Diggs is supposed to be in it.
I actually felt like the producers redeemed themselves with this show. Not to say that I loved it or anything, but they got themselves out of a box pretty well.
I don't really like Meredith either and had originally been thinking that I'd like to just see her go, but on the other hand, I like her relationship with Derek and I like that she's the only person that Christina warms up to.
I feel kinda bad for Izzie actually. Her relationship with George will never be the same since Callie's in the picture and Denny's gone, so she really doesn't have a "person" like Christina has Meredith.
Oh! I almost forgot--I totally think Alex is going to get with the pregnant woman. Addison and McSteamy are heating back up again and he seems to be bonding with the pregnant woman.
I didn't want to open this thread until I watched the episode, which I just finished. I didn't like the episode, and I'm relieved that we're out of this crazy storyline and I hope things will go back to "normal." I couldn't stand the thing about her being in limbo. I wanted to just turn it off once that whole thing started, but I stuck it out. It was way to corny and ridiculous.
I always feel so bad for Addison when she sees Derek and Meredith together. When she said, "he never looked at me like that," I almost lost it! But what was up with Derek just saying "hey?" if someone I loved that much just essentially came back from the dead, I'd be hovering over him and when he woke up I'd probably strangle him with a hug. I wouldn't just lean against the door 10 feet away and give a half-smile and a "hey." I mean, I get more excited when I haven't seen my BF in two days!
I wonder if something will happen between Derek and the pregnant lady, though? I think something will... but maybe that's just wishful thinking on my part.
I also was kind of just hoping that Meredith would die, even though I knew she wouldn't.
and lastly: I'm glad George stood up to Izzy and told her that her comments were mean and especially out of place at that time. IMO Izzy is being a real bitch about all of this. Callie is George's WIFE.

I thought the whole Meredith in limbo thing was a little cheesy and the episode as a whole was completely predictable. It was okay.
Re: Derek's reaction when Meredith woke up-- I actually really liked it. It reminded me of how McStubborn (the boy) is and how he would probably react and it's one of the things I really like about him, so I liked Derek's reaction. I think it would have been overkill for him to be sobbing and right up in Meredith's face.
The Izzie/Denny moment made the show for me. It was so sweet and sad and touching. I loved it. And Christina demanding that they try again with Meredith was pretty cool, too.
