I've been working out a lot lately (3-5x a week, as opposed to NEVER) and I am SOOO hungry during the day and after dinner. I have been eating a lot of protein and drinking lots of water... any other suggestions?
It's great that you're working out so much -- you probably need more fuel to keep going. What do you usually eat during the day? Maybe add a few servings of filling but healthy snacks like bananas, crackers with low-fat cheese, dried fruits, baked chips, etc.
I was like this, too, when I first started working out, and I found that it was helpful to have bigger breakfasts and lunches so my dinner was smaller. Otherwise, all I could think about all day was eating! hth!
People are so confused about food. Eating is not a bad thing. There is nothing wrong with eating when you are hungry. I eat five small meals a day instead of 3 meals a day with lots of snacks. When I cant wait in between meals I eat nuts or fruit (protein and fiber).

When I start working out again after a lapse (usually a really long one) I always get ravenous. I think you shoud eat if you are hungry but it usually goes away as your body adjusts to the new routine.
Let's see.. Today, for example, this is what I ate:
Breakfast - 1 Egg white omelet w/ veggies 1 piece of whole wheat 10 grain toast w/ a little tiny bit of margarine & raspberry jam 1 Decaf Nonfat Cappuccino
Lots of water
Lunch - Wasn't that hungry... Had a spicy salmon roll and water
After lunch - Almonds
NOWWW - I am STARVING!!! I feel like I haven't eaten all day.
I'd definitely eat a piece of fruit at some point, that always helps me with my hunger control. Also maybe adding a salad to your lunch and having a filling snack snack before the gym like a banana, protein bar/shake, or PB sandwich.
I'm glad you posted this, because I've been having the same problem. I've also started working out recently. I find that I wake up in the middle of the night really hungry, or I'm really hungry before I go to bed, and I don't want to eat past 10pm. I think the advice posted so far is good. Eat five meals a day instead of three, and really look at what your eating. Is it enough to give you some fuel inbetween and after meals? I think this is the advice I'm going to follow. Good luck!
