i know that she's disturbed, but it somewhat bothers me that shaving your head as a girl can bring such a crazy public response and have everyone call you ugly and crazy and stuff. I understand the fresh start/purification side, and don't actually think this is that big of a deal. Its just hair and it will grow back- maybe she is sick of being a sexual object and reduced to how attractive she is- which has always been what she was "good" at. I think its a struggle women will always have and it makes me sad. What happens if you get cancer and have no hair? Does having no choice in the matter make it any better- whispers of .. ohhh ok, at least she has a reason? Why should we even think twice- we don't with men. now she's getting older, having kids, gaining weight, being in unhealthy relationships, made fun of at every turn...
Either it's a cry for help or she's lost it entirely. I hope that whoever suggested that her hair was too fried and it needed to be shaved off was right. I think the best thing for her to do right now is get out of CA with her sons and go somewhere secluded, and concentrate on pulling herself together, hopefully with a psychiatrist. She can worry about her comeback later. The world won't forget about her while she's away.

I totally agree with you Lynne, I don’t think if someone feels the need to shave there head that everyone should makesuch a big deal just cause they are a women, and I find it ridiculous that this society equates pretty hair with being an attractive women.
The thing that really disturbs me about it with Brittany isn’t because she shaved her head, but all the circumstances leading up to shaving her head, going through something stressful things like a divorce, partying all the time, checking in to rehab for only 24 hours.
She does not seem to be thinking clearly at all right now, and it’s sad that people think it’s funny when obviously she is in emotional turmoil of some type.
Even if it is publicity stunt, to be at an emotional state where you think that something like that would help your career would be sad.

I understand what you're saying Lynnie, but Britney doesn't seem like I don't know that she's the type to put much thought into anything and so I kind of doubt that she did it as a "statement" you know? I agree with you that there shouldn't be any sort of stigma associated with shaving your head and that in reality, it's not that big of a deal--it's just hair. But I think the reason it's caused so much publicity is because for awhile now, Britney has seemed like she's on the edge of a complete breakdown and this just sort of affirms people's beliefs (at least mine) that she's kind of gone off the deep end. I guess what I'm trying to say is that it's less about the hair and more about her behavior.
yea, i know she seems crazy. she probably is. I didn't even comment in relation to what has been said in this thread- more towards the public reaction in general. This is major news in the world- it was on the front page of newspapers, breaking news on blogs.... I think its a little extreme if you think about it for the circumstances- which we'll never truly know her motivation behind (whether its a cry for help, for attention, because she wants to start fresh, because her hair sucked, or a combo of all...) Maybe I'm just sick of celebrity culture in general? I don't know.
apparently, a girl at the tattoo parlor asked why her white purse was reddish. it was b/c britney had spilled nyquil (?!) on it. i bet her publicist wants to dig a hole and hibernate.
How does someone with so much money manage to look like crap??? Her hair was a mess, yes it will be healthier without the extensions but there are alternatives - this was not a planned appointment to get her hair shaved, it was a random act of craziness.
Some people can pull off that look (Natalie Portman, or Demi Moore as you may recall) but some people just arent blessed in the looks department (Britney!) It sounds catty but without makeup she is not very attractive. Hello, shes so freaking rich and I see acne??? Get with the program. She thinks she is smart in rebelling against beauty or stylists or whatnot but she just looks like a slob. Rehab, get to it!
Frankly I think she looks like a regular person, because well, regardless of any money she has and whatever celebrity she has, she is in fact a regular person. To compare her 'regular' face to the one she has when she's been worked on by stylists for 4 hours is in poor taste IMO.
She is not only a regular person, but one who is very young, has two small children at home, and a nasty divorce to wade through. Her old life is gone, her new life in absolute shambles. I think any one of us going through what she is would be having an identity crisis of epic proportions right along with her! It makes me really sad for her that her struggles are caught on camera, for the world to see.
I don't mean to single you out Xtina, but as a person who has struggled with acne (and probably dropped more than my fair share on meds and treatments) I personally find your comment hurtful and unfair. No amount of money can change biology. She's not a superhuman.
That's not to say that I'm not as shocked as everyone else about the random head shaving, though!

As ridiculous as her behavior has been lately, I feel sorry for Britney. This is another example of how kids working in the entertainment industry often become completely screwed up adults. We'll never know what "really" happened in her childhood or how her parents raised or treated her, but to me she's seemed extremely lonely over the past few years. She got married twice, and fast both times, and I think she was even the one to propse both times. She just seemed desperate to connect with someone and things in her life keep getting worse. It looks like people are out to use her, like this guy she dated recently who sold his story on their relationship to a British tabloid.
I watched a couple episodes of her "Chaotic" show and what really struck me was how isolated she was, and how screwed up it made her perspective. She came across as completely shallow and self-centered and asinine, and was surrounded bypaid employees instead of real friends (dancers, hair and makeup people, handlers, etc.). They all just laughed and smiled at everything she said. It just looked like such a sad existence, despite all the money and privelage.
Elle, I'm sorry you were offended. From my knowledge there are things that are accessible to some people that aren't as accessible to others that may help with acne. For example, regular facials, great products, microdermabrasion, professional makeup application. I just don't understand why she doesn't seem to tap into these resources.

Yeah I agree... don't get me wrong, I have had more than a few laughs at her and Fed-Ex's expense (mostly courtesy of the Fug Girls), but the extent to which her life seems to have become a total shambles really is just sad. It's sad to see anyone value themselves so little, and have such a total absence of judgement, as to get involved with a piece of garbage like KFed, and then create two innocent kids to share in the mess. Anyway I hope she can get her act together fairly soon...

Well, that wasn't really my point. How do we know she isn't doing all those expensive treatments already? It wouldn't really matter if she was or wasn't if her acne is hormonal or stress related would it? I just don't think she deserves to be judged by higher-than-average standards in her everyday life. It's not like she showed up at some premier 'looking like crap'. Haven't you ever had to face the world on a bad hair day, or with a big zit on your chin that appeared despite your best efforts?
I don't get how expecting her to not only look perfect (having her makeup applied professionally every time she's going to leave her house) but actually be perfect (with skin so perfect she doesn't even need makeup) is a reasonable expectation of anyone, at all, ever.
