What did everyone think of last night's Grey's? It was kinda hard to watch Meredith underwater that long, because you know in real life, she would never survive that. And you know she won't die. But I thought McDreamy was great, and I felt so bad for him. I also loved Izzy's speech at the end. And Christina finally showed a little emotion.
Have I mentioned that I love Alex? Love him. Loved when he told Addison he'd notice if she went missing
Oh and LOVED that Denny was there at the end of the episode!
I feel like there is no real way Meredith could have survived something like that IRL. But I think that they're going to bring her back just at the last second next week and she'll like, come back from the dead or something. I personally didn't care for the ending. I think GA is getting too extreme for me. I was just thinking about this the other day because in one of my media classes we were discussing what happens when a viewer quits "buying it" with a TV show. That's happening to me - everything is just getting a little too weird.
I didn't like Izzy's speech, either. I mean, it started out like she wanted to get everyone really optimistic abotu Meredith, but then she went and told George that his marriage was a horrible idea? I mean, he really didn't need that right then. His friend is in the ER.
But yea, I'm really starting to like Alex, too.

Ooh, the final scenes with Derek were so good. But I hated Izzy's speech, especially when she told Georgehis marriage was a mistake; I don't even see what basis she has for this. Good for her, though, for getting off probation--what an exciting way to do it. I really liked Christina showing some emotion and I totally love Alex.
I never really got it when people cried at this show, but tonight I shed a few tears, when Alex brought his pictures back from the morgue and when Derek walked out of Meredith's Trauma Room. Those scenes were brutal!

LOL I cry during almost every episode!
As for Izzy telling George it was a mistake to marry Callie - it's the truth! I think she was just feeling emotion and laid it all out on the table. Maybe the timing was off, but she's right - he married Callie out of the emotions he's not dealing with from losing his dad.
As for the show getting to extreme - I look @ it this way -they do that because if they didn't, everyone would complain that it was too boring. I watch it w/the attitude that yeah, it's extreme, but it's just a tv show.
I love Alex! (my bf's name is Alex too so he would be ok with me saying that ) My favorite part was when he told Addison that he would notice if she went missing. Awww... Izzie's speech was definitely bordering on cheesy to me with the whole "I believe" inspirational talk. I'm glad she's back from probation though, she really earned it. I can't wait til next week. I know Meredith won't die but I want to know what happened!
I *think* that because Meredith was hypothermic, that it is plausible that she could survive without major brain damage. What I want to know is how the heck did McDreamy find her body out there?

Honestly, I couldn't finsih watching it. I thought it was kinda cheesy. The whole scene with Meredith in the water was way too long and a little overboard, (no pun intended). Maybe, I'm the only one, but I think Grey's Anatomy is getting really hokey.
I absolutely love GA but I'm not thrilled with the direction its headed, that dramatic/action/ER thing. Meredith coming back from the dead is a little too much. I know most people don't like her, but I do. I'd be really upset if they killed her off or made are a dead voice over character like in Desparate Housewives, but I'm also going to be upset about her coming back from the dead because it seems so far fetched. I liked Izzy's speech too. I'm glad she told George she thinks the marriage is a mistake. I expect that kind of honesty from my friends.

Yup - in cold water, the brain can survive without oxygen for around 45 minutes.
I'm sure next week they'll totally milk 'reviving' her (all the while she's in limbo and talking to now-dead characters), and then at the veeeerrrrry end, they'll bring her body temp back up enough to bring her out of it.
Izzy is really getting on my nerves ..... she's such a weirdo with her freaking out when she's supposed to be helping that guy, and then with her "I believe ..." speach. Bleh!

On the preview of next week's episode they talked about a "devestating conclusion." My theory is that Meredith will be in a coma for a couple of episodes and then come back to life.

That's what I figured. That way, they can keep Denny around a little longer. I thought it was a pretty good episode, Izzy's speech was a little melodramatic and at first I thought it was inappropriate for her to talk about George's marriage at that moment (did anyone else see the HATE in his eyes after she said that?).....But then I rememebered during the Bomb episode when she started laughing and then apologizing for laughing and saying that she's always inappropriate during stressful times. That made me like the speech a little more, it showed she was really staying true to the original character.
Derek was awesome in this episode and i really like the scene at the end with him and Mark and even Addison....it was cheesey, but it was very true to life, i thought.

Oh how I love Christina! Her emotional scenes are so, so powerful because of all the subtle work she does. Love it!
Did anyone else have a Can't Buy Me Love flashback when McDreamy was sliding down the wall, crying?
Izzie blows. I like George and Callie together and Izzie needs to pull the stick out of her ass already. She liked George lonely and heartbroken (over Meredith) because then she had someone. Now he isn't and she doesn't. It's quite pathetic of her. But I was super proud of her for drilling that dude's head. Very cool. I kept wondering how hard it was to learn the metric system while I was watching that scene...
The end had me crying - a lot. I almost always shed a tear or two during GA but last night was killer. I could have done without Meredith's blue makeup though. Just weird.

OMG - ME!!! I totally thought of Ronald Miller, but didn't say anything in fear of everyone else not knowing what I was talking about or thinking I was nuts!
I'd like to add that at first I was ticked that Meredith couldn't swim to her own safety, but then I thought about how very, very tiny Ellen P is and it made total sense. She didn't have the energy to swim about, what with her diminished body size and all.
I liked the episode, but agree that it descended into over cheesiness at times. If that wounded guy from the accident could drag himself out of the water, complete with a huge gash on his leg, then why couldn't Meredith? That detail annoyed me. But like Bluebirde said, she is a teensy lady.
Personally, I thought Izzie's speech started out great but turned terrible. Why pick that moment to say George's marriage was a mistake? Everyone was already distraught. And they've never been nice to Callie as it is, so I saw this not so much as a commentary on the speed with which George proposed, but as the same old "we want George all to ourselves but only as a friend" deal. I love Callie and they've never given a good reason for why the core group dislikes her, except that she's not one of them. And the comment about eating the butter was silly. There were bigger things to talk about!
Patrick Dempsey did some really great work. I liked seeing Denny and Bomb Squad guy in the "afterlife" scene.
I pretty much hated the whole episode. The parts with Alex were great, but other than that, awful.
Izzie's speech was completely ridiculous and terribly written. I just felt like the whole time she was talking.
I totally agree with ttara that I'm just not "buying it" and I feel like all of a sudden, the show has veered off in this weird direction and I'm not sure how they can get it back on track without making it even weirder (ie Meredith coming back from the dead--I think at this point, I'd just as soon see them kill off her character.)
I loved seeing Denny and the bomb squad guy again too. Yummmmm....

LMAO-- do people just sink like that?

I'm with NCshopper - I hated nearly the entire episode. A show I have loved has suddeny gone horribly, horribly awry and I don't know how they can get it back to "normal" (well, Grey's normal) again. That last ep was idiotic. Even Alex saying to Addison "I'd notice..." was so predictable and formulaic. I like the heat between the two of them but I didn't buy that part. And Izzie's speech was just stupid. And she needs to get the hell over George and Callie together. I don't care how good a friend you are, if one of my friends said that to me, like that, we wouldn't be "okay" about it.
And yeah, at this point, I'd rather see them kill off Meredith. I don't think Ellen Pompeo is a decent actress, and have always thought of her as the weakest one of the cast. I'd like to see the show move on without her.
Plus I find it SUPER annoying that they are continuing this over several episodes. They haven't put "to be continued" on the screen, but this totally reads to me as a complete ploy for sweeps. And I think it's crap.
~end rant~

I loved it! I was getting so bored with this season, I'm glad they are finally mixing it up a bit. There is more going on that meets the eye and that's what I love about this show. I think when it all comes together it's going to be awesome.
I for one, love the chemistry that happenend between Addison and the Chief in the episode before last. Did anyone else notice that?
I also love that Izzy is off probation, Mark and Derek might mend and Christina came closer to being human.
There is usually something happening underneath the obvious in this show, and that's what I love about it.
If any of you have not read the writters blog I highly recco it. www.greyswriters.com/
I liked how Meredith keeps talking about "phantom pains" and things that just seem to go away...I think that was all leading up to this sort of surrealstic parts. I too am thinking they may keep her in a coma so Denny can stick around and then maybe Derek will have to operate on her. It did seem a little far-fetched but I'm interested to see what happens this week. It looks like Christina was yelling orders at the surgeons!
