I'd like to start working out and toning up, but I don't want to join a gym. I'm looking to tone pretty much everything, but particularly my abs. Does anyone have any tips for a great toning workout without the gym or gym equipment? TIA!

I use the workouts at Shape.com to supplement my cardio. Right now they are doing a 5 month "bikini body" countdown series that I'm really enjoying. You do need a set of hand weights. It's good for me because I hate strength training and I can do this while I'm watching tv. I definitely feel like I get sore the first few times I do the new workouts and I think it's making a difference for me.
Thanks ladies. After posting this, I ordered a couple of workout DVDs from amazon.com. I got
Anyone ever tried these videos? I thought it could be something I could do in my living room. They both got great reviews on amazon. And if I wanted a longer workout, I figure I could do both videos back to back.
I've had the pilates DVD you got for awhile. As someone who's done pilates extensively in the past but is not in the best shape now, IMO it's not the best. Many of the exercises are awkward and painful on joints, and she seems to leave out some simple-but-effective moves for not-as-effective-but-fancier ones. I would recommend stretching before beginning the video, because you even need to be pre-stretched for the stretch workout! I do feel the burn in my abs when I use this video, but rarely anywhere else.
I just ordered Pilates for Dummies, so we'll see if that one is more my speed and I'll review.
