Wow, I cannot believe the way it ended. My jaw dropped when Meredith fell in the water. I thought this was a great episode. The more I see Alex, the more I love him. Those scences w/the pregnant woman he rescued were touching. Also, did anyone else just want to cry for the Chief? I'm so heartbroken for him - he just seems so sad. Can't wait for next week.

ITA. I just finished watching and I still cannot believe that Meredith fell in the water! Alex was so great with the pregnant lady. He just handled himself really well in this episode. Next week looks sooo good!
I simply do not have the stamina required to make it another week before finishing this!
The whole thing with Izzy creeped me out. When that guy first started asking for her help in a secluded spot and refused to ask anyone else, I was afraid he was going to kill her or something! It still seems all weird to me, but I guess they just want Izzy to gain confidence in her medical skills.
I feel really bad for the Chief, too. No Adelle, and soon no job...what's going to happen to him? He's so sad. Hopefully he'll get back together with her and be happy.
I think that McDreamy is going to jump in the water and save Meredith. I mean, the whole bathtub thing and his saying he was her knight in shining whatever is just leading up to that, I think.

I was shocked at first that Meredith fell in the water, but then I remembered the opening scene from the episode and it became corny. You know, the bit about her trying to drown in the bathtub, then she drowns IRL.
Where is the story with the little blonde girl going, anyway?

when the show ended i thought "they CANNOT leave me hanging like this for a whole week!". but we know that meredith won't die and I think McDreamy will save her too... a little too tied in with the opening scene. I think the little girl is freaky! BF started to wonder if it was her younger self (but that's a Lost knida concept - not quite Grey's).
The episode was so good, I was on the verge of tears the whole time though. That little girl was seriously creepy, wonder where they are going with that one. Though there is rumor that they were going to bring Izzy's daughter into the show some how. The one she put up for adoption. Cracked up wen McSteamy told the Chief he needed highlights. Was so funny.

Yeah, ITA -- it reminded me of the Super Bowl episode last year, where she started off the day with that bad feeling and had a dream about standing across from Derek, and then later on almost died and had to imagine Derek in the same way to get through the whole bomb-inside-a-patient thing. So, Derek is going to save her again.
Interesting theory about that maybe being Izzy's daughter...I also heard a rumor that somehow Denny, or the actor who played him, will be back.

Yes, she talked about it with a patient last season. If I recall correctly, the patient was a pregnant teenage girl and Izzy was trying to give her options. Izzy let her know that she too was pregnant as a teen and gave her daughter up for adoption.
I guess I'm alone here, but I didn't like this episode. I thought it was flat and predictable. Except for Meredith getting knocked off the pier at the end - I definitely wasn't expecting that. But of course we know she won't die, so what's the point? Though both DH and I wouldn't mind if she did "die" and wasn't on the show any more...despite what I thought was her best acting last week, I think she's the weakest link of the whole show and find her annoying.
As for Alex...he's the best eye candy there and I love that they're giving him and Kate Walsh more screen time. I hope they get together - I really like both characters!

I completely agree. It was just kind of "meh" for me. I'm tired of the Christina/Burke dynamic and Meredith just really bugs me.
I also didn't understand what was up with the people Izzie was helping. Something about those guys just seemed off and creepy, like they were going to hurt her.
Alex was great in this episode. His character is one of the most interesting, because I can never tell if he's going to be a good guy or a total ass in any given situation. Also, part of me wonders if the pregnant lady he's been helping is someone from his past that he doesn't recognize because her face is so swollen.
I also heard a rumor that somehow Denny, or the actor who played him, will be back.
I read an article about this! It said that he definitely comes back, though not in the form of a flashback... it seems a little corny, but maybe not... maybe he comes back in the form of a ghost or something? Especially if that little girl is Izzie's daughter?
This episode was a bit too melodramatic-ERish to me. But I'm interested to see what happens next week.

I agree, it was too melodramatic for me as well. When they get all dramatic like that, the times when they throw in their typical jokes or worries the characters have (in this one, hair color or when will Cristina admit she's engaged) it just doesn't work as well. It feels jarring.

ITA. I thought it was dumb how Meredith fell in the water. I know it's sweeps, but COME ON.

The Chief isn't retiring. He was only doing that to get Adelle back. Now that it isn't a possibility he is staying. I think that I read it in EW or something.

Oh Goodness-- please tell me no, that is so General Hospital. (which I also watch one a week or a month or so since i was 12.)
I think he's going to somehow "come back" to save meredith from drowning or to help Izzy out somehow...I know that he doesn't come back in a dream sequence, but I'm thinking of more along the lines of a hallucination or something...
