do you or anyone you know have a non-traditional engagement ring? Different stone, unique style, family heirloom, non-ring, etc? I'm not getting married anytime soon, i'm just curious. i want to find something eventually that feels right on me.
I have a purple sapphire engagement ring, the band is pave and actually two rings made into a wavy pattern. I should have a good photo of it soon - I'll post them then.
It looks sort of like this ring but with an oval purple sapphire. II love that it is so unique!
DH and I were too poor for a diamond, so we got a ring custom-made for our engagement.
Looks like this:
Pearl in the middle with two teensy diamonds on each size, except that my pearl is cream. It's very special to me, because it's unique, and it reminds me of all we've been through together already!
We chose a pearl because it's June's birthstone, and we got married in June.
I am one of those weird girls where diamonds are not my best friend :) I don't like stones and I don't really like diamonds. Four of five years ago I my husband got me some jewelry making classes and I became good friends with the instructor. So when he decided to propose he worked with her to design an engagement ring for me. It's a quarter inch white gold disk on a band with a really small diamond inset in the lower left hand corner. It basically looks like a stamp in the metal. I love it and it is perfect for me.
A friend of mine was going to get a raw diamond engagement ring.
Basically an uncut diamond. This site has traditional settings and a few untraditional settings. The stones are diamonds but very different than the traditional sparkely stones: http://www.toddreed.com/OCring.cfm

I'm not married, but I always thought it would be a cool idea to get one of those cartier locking bracelets, that come with a key, one person gets the bracelet one person gets the key. Ok in retrospect it sounds kind of weird, but I still think it would be cute!
