i would love to do the half marathon and i think it's doable, but right now i know for sure i'm doing the shamrock shuffle (8k) in march with a bunch of friends. we'll see how "training" goes and if there's any openings for the half marathon once i see how things have progressed. p.s. i should be completely honest and say that since my 56 yr. old dad runs marathons, i would be super bummed to run the 1/2 marathon and to have my dad kick my ass....which is more than 99% likely.

I have never done it, but 2 years ago my brother ran the full. He had never done anything like that before and isn't athletic. He just decided to do it for charity and also to test himself. It was grueling, both the training and the marathon, but very rewarding. It was one of the most awe-inspiring things I have ever seen. Just watching the runners and the looks on their faces when they saw the finish line for the first time was really moving.
Anyway, my whole point to all this is I say go for it!
Not the marathon but I signed up to do the triathlon on August 9th. I'm doing the 1/2 triathlon though. I've started running and biking now and start swimming this week!
