First, thanks for all your great suggestions ladies!  I've incorporated some of them and the living room is looking a ton better already.  Getting rid of the hanging lanterns and putting a mirror on the wall was a BIG difference.  I also angled the ugly green chair towards the room and got a small table, lamp, and plant for that little area and it looks really cozy and cute.  We still need to get a new entertainment center and I'm still considering painting the back wall chocolate.

The rug is awesome... it looks so great with your red furniture!  And I the little table with the plant on it near your chair.  Did it come from Pier 1?

Yup!  It was on sale for like $38 or something.  It was exactly what I wanted for that area.
