I wasn't here for the first round of resolutions, but mine this year are:
-become familiar with a tailor. I so often reject shirts and dresses that don't fit properly just because I'm too lazy to go get them tailored somewhere, and it's really getting old. I just need to bite the bullet.
-quit buying basics! I gained weight over the past year, so I spent a lot of money just rebuilding my wardrobe of basics. Now, though, I have plenty - but I'm still in that mode! Pretty much everything I have is plain and a solid color. I think I automatically skip over anything that's *not* basic just because I forced myself to do so for so long!

I actually did pretty well. I can't think of much that I bought this past year that I wouldn't still wear style-wise.
I'm keeping the same resolution this year, but I'm going to be more selective about fit/cut and color as well. The things that I've bought more recently that I don't wear are because the color isn't right for me or because I'm not very happy with the fit.
I sort-of stuck to my resolutions. I bought significantly less clothes in 2006 than in 2005. I did focus on accessories as planned, mostly necklaces and shoes. But I didn't buy one single belt in 2006. I also got 5 dresses, and wore them all the time this summer. I don't now how I survived without them!
Now, for 2007, I resolve to:
- try new things! sometimes it's so easy to get stuck in a rut and always reach for the same tried-and-true outfit
- wear everything in my closet - I have a lot of cute things that I don't wear very often, and I'm not sure why (ok, I do know that I need to iron more often )
- not buy another cardigan - I have WAY too many!
- experiment more with layering, try things I already own in different combinations.
Yay! I'd forgotten all about this. But in looking over it, I find that I did mostly stick to my resolutions.
- buy less, buy better. I asked myself the "Do I LOVE it?" question nearly every time I was wavering, and it really helped. I have a closet with many more clothes that I'm happy to put on, instead of things that are just 'okay' or filling a gap because I was too lazy / impulsive to wait for the right item.
- buy better quality bags. My goal was to spend around $100 (or more) on bags, since I tended to cheap out on them. Which meant buying less bags, but that goes back to the first resolution. Okay, I didn't spend $100 on every bag I bought, but only because I got some good deals on eBay. I bought seven bags last year. One was $300, two were right at or a little over $100, two were normally priced around $150 but I scored on eBay, and two were eBay scores that I didn't love much in person, sadly. I'm still somewhat on a bag hunt.
- continue to weed out things that just don't work in my closet, or just don't go with anything. I did some hard-core weeding in the closet this year, and learned that aside from jeans, I don't really wear pants that much (I prefer skirts), and that several of my skirts don't have much to go with them, so I looked for items to coordinate with those skirts. I also got rid of a lot of cheap summer tops that hadn't held up well, or didn't fit wonderfully, and replaced some of them with better items.
2007 goals:
- the first is the same; buy quality over quantity. I don't think that will be too hard now that I'm really in that mindset.
- look for interesting colors or details. I've been doing pretty well on color - I love wearing bold colors anyway - but I have a lot of basic items and I really want to spice things up a bit more with different necklines, sleeve details, etc.
- focus on the shoes I really need (i.e. basic black pumps, some more kitten heels, ankle boots) instead of getting so sidetracked by the ones I love (less practical stilettos, delicate high heels, etc). I just don't have as many reasons to wear those shoes. I think some more wedges will satisfy my high heel desires and still allow me to have more "comfortable" shoes when I'm doing more walking / working.
- add a*few* more dresses and sweaters. I found a lot of sweaters I loved this year, and also several dresses. I'm getting good mileage out of both, but wouldn't mind adding a few more.
- find a good medium-weight, medium-length, coat. I have a decent coat selection, but the only more casual coat (besides short jackets) I own is a red Target coat. I like it, but the damn thing picks up fuzz from everything! I wear it once and look like I rolled in a cotton field. So I will be looking for a replacement.
I have a ton of accessories - jewelry, scarves...maybe add a few more belts, but my wardrobe is fairly well-rounded for now.

I somehow missed this thread last year. But here are my 2007 style resolutions.....
Buy one fantastic, black, basic handbag that is classic and stylish and suitable for work and play. I have too many that I feel so-so about.
Consider comfort when buying shoes. I'm not going to stop buying cute ones, but it would benefit me greatly if I could find some cute ones that didn't make me whimper after an hour.
Add unique pieces now that I'm done stocking up on basics.
Make better use of my accessories, and fill in a few holes to round it all out.
Play with color combinations. I have plenty of bold colors, but always pair them with too basic items.
Wake up 30 minutes earlier to make the last two items possible. Running out the door without a moment to spare isn't putting ones most fashionable foot forward; It's any shirt, a pair of black pants and hoping you grabbed two black trouser socks and not one navy and one black. That just won't do! I must try to wake up earlier if this is the only one I follow through with.
Buy more accessories and to buy more dresses, both of which I've done. I wanted a clutch and I bought one. I only bought one other bag, so I think I did well on that.
2007:
Buy more pants, skirts, and jeans. I hate dressing the lower half of me, since that's the larger half and I tend to just put the same pants, skirts, and jeans in rotation.
Buy a few more jackets/blazers. I love to wear them and I could really stand to buy a few more.
Buy a pair of plain black, pointy toe pumps. I do not own a pair and I should.
the overarching theme is for my wardrobe to 'grow up.' i'll probably be a student for a while, so i don't need to branch out into business-casual or anything, but a lot of my clothes are remnants of a college lifestyle.
-stop. getting. jeans. -stop getting basics. if i have to get basics, they can't be brown, blue or grey. almost everything i own is a solid color, with the occasional striped shirt. -get some shoes that aren't pumas, chucks or flips. -get interesting tops. it's hard for me to find them, since i'm a big ol' tomboy who's afraid of lace, silk, satin, florals and frills. le sigh. -accessories are my friends. invest in nice jewelry that will last
*organize my clothes better- i have a lot of nice pieces and I swear i don't wear them just because i don't see them in my drawers!
*start making jewelry again
*buy a couple more pairs of comfy nice shoes (not sneakers)
*one more pair of jeans and thats it!! (i found a pair at anthropologie i liked- levi's reissues of 501s- they fit really well but are $198- waiting for the inevitable markdown)
*well designed, easy to wear, loose, comfortable, minimalist pieces in sophisticated colors are ALWAYS worn by me
These were mine from last year, but for 2007, since my debt consolidation program has been completed, this may change a little
I don't have NEARLY enough going out clothes, for when I do go out w/Joe or my girlfriends, so that's a MUST for 2006 (Didn't really happen)
I also want to buy 'better quality' clothes, even tho' I can make my cheapie clothes last a LIFETIME (I tried)
Also, I want some REALLY NICE pants. I don't NEED any more jewelry, but hey - yall know me (Got TONS of nice pants!)
I want to get into more belts/scarves, b/c they really DO make a difference to any outfit (I did WELL on this one as well)
And to DRESS BETTER, some days I just throw on whatever, NOT putting any effort into it, so....That too will change for 2006 (I think I did pretty good one this one.....for 2006)
For 2007
*Buy less and better quality. I'll BE asking myself: "Do I REALLY LOVE this?" I figure if I like it, or can work with it, and not LOVE it, then it'll just sit in my closet for months at a time. This goes for shoes & clothes.
*Buy a NICE, more expensive handbag. I'd like to buy ONE nice handbag, that I can carry ALL YEAR, for at least $100.00; the most expensive purse I have is the one I'm carrying now, for $35.00 on sale, from JCP. All tho' I'm really NOT a hand bag person, per se, I'd still like a nice one for every day use.
*Get rid of things that just don't work in my closet, things I brought, but don't like, or they don't fit me right, anymore (GO THRU MY ENTIRE WARDROBE!!). I KNOW I brought so many skirts/tops this past year, and some of them I've worn once, didn't like how they fit, so they have since left my closet. I brought things I 'thought' I liked when I brought them, but now - not so much. LOL I meant to do a closet sweet this past weekend, but eh - it didn't happen.....
*TRY to buy shoes I really need. I tend to go buck wild w/shoes, esp. in the Spring & Summer, OPEN TOED season, but this coming year, I will got thru ALL OF MY SHOES, and try to work w/the ones I already have. *Notice I said TRY*......LOL Damn my shoe fetish.
I may add more later, but these are what I could think of for now......

-accessorize. i have been trying to build a bigger (costume) jewelry wardrobe, and i'd like to experiment with that. -like tll, i will ask myself if i *really* love something before i buy it. this is hard because i often thrift (which i am trying to cut down on) and it's kind of a "now or never" thing. -quality over quantity -get rid of at least 20 more pieces of clothing + pare down my shoe collection -try out new clothing combinations. -only wear flattering clothing. this is a HUGE problem for me. i will often wear something just because i love it, even if i know it looks assy on. i am really going to try to be honest with myself about this!
A lot of similar resolutions to the ones that have already been posted:
1. Wear more of the clothes in my closet. I have so many different shirts, sweaters, pants, etc., but I get into these ruts where I only wear a small subsection. I need to wear more of my clothes -- or be sure to get rid of the ones I don't wear.
2. Invest in at least one really classic piece -- I'm thinking a nice watch.
3. Accessorize!
4. Try to be brutally honest with myself about what styles, colors and cuts are flattering to my body and stick with them.
1. Buy more patterned tops - less solid tshirts and basic tops. 2. Add at least 2 dresses to my closet. I don't like wearing them much, but I'd like a couple more. 3. Do something with my hair.
I'm pretty happy with how I followed up on my 2006 resolutions, which were to accessorize more and make better use of what I have by trying out new color combos.
I didn't have any resolutions for 2006 but here are mine for 2007:
1. Buy more interesting shoes. I have too many basic, no frills shoes in black, brown, and red. I need to focus on buying shoes with different textures and different colors.
2. Buy more quality pieces of clothing in rich colors with classic lines.
3. Find a good tailor and/or dressmaker.
4. Buy more jeans and stop buying so many dresses.
Good luck girls!

I did horribly as far as style resolutions went but I did get out of cc debt.
I did buy more accesories, most notably some nice handbag purchases. However, I bought so many clothes that it's ridiculous. It was mostly because I spent half the year in business casual and the other half in jeans and sneakers but I kept replacing things as they wore out.
I definitely didn't do much with earrings for my second holes. I think I need to get something nice for them and never take them off. I also lost a diamond earring at work so I actually only have one stud left.
This year I resolve to...
Wear earrings all the time.
Find comfortableflats and wedges (in any color but black) that I can wear to work and kick around in.
Buy more jewelry...this one is hard because I get so overwhelmed when I look at jewlery and then I balk at the price tag if it's more than $20.
I didn't do the poll last year, but here are my resolutions...
-Weed out my closet. I've got so many random pairs of jeans from the Gap, going out tops from Forever 21, uncomfortable shoes and other junky things I never wear so it's time to get rid of the excess.
-Honestly analyze my wardrobe to determine if everything is age appropriate. I have a lot of Juicy and cute/trendy things that may be better suited for someone younger (I'm 26)... whatever I don't want I'll pass on to my 20 year old sister.
-Buy more closed toe shoes. I live in Florida now so I can get away with wearing flipflops everywhere but I'll be moving back to Atlanta in the next couple of years and need to get used to wearing "real" shoes again.
-Get ridiculously skinny because I'll hopefully be wearing a wedding dress next year!
I didn't have any last year, but here are some for '07:
* Buy cute, comfy, lower heeled shoes, not only cause I'm pregnant but when this baby comes in June I won't wanna be teetering around in 4" heels everyday.
* Buy more cute basic tops with a twist, like C&C tees, etc
* I also need to go thru what I have and get rid of stuff that I don't like, haven't worn or just isn't comfortable. If I'm constantly fidgeting with it then I'm probably not gonna wear it.
