Im looking for a book to read over christmas break. Ive been a bit down the last few weeks, so maybe something to lift my spirits or at least take my mind off things. I usually like books that have a good moral to the story or something I can learn from. Any recommendations would be great!

I'm re-reading The Princess Bride over Christmas break. It's every bit as hilarious as the movie, but also completely romantic... the first time I read it, I couldn't put it down for a second and finished it in 2-3 days. It's definitely a feel-good book without being too flaky

Oh, I love that book too! As well as the movie -- both are so good.
If you haven't read the Shopaholic series or anything by Sophie Kinsella you must - so fun - no real lesson other than you'll learn that you don't shop THAT much.
I'm currently reading the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich. It's really funny & mindless - again, no real lesson - I call it beach reading. There are 12 in the series so if you like it you'll have plenty of reading for a while. Good news is that it's pretty popular & your library should have a copy so you won't even be out any money.

Love those books!
I just finished "The Hidden Diary of Marie attoinette" , and it was excellent!
This book definitely goes on my Top 5 Best Books of ALL TIME list. I was so sad to be finished with it, I wanted it to keep going and going. Can't recommend it enough.

I love the book the Second Assistant. It is completely hilarious!! I just got the First Assistant (the second book in the series), but I am saving it to read by the pool on our vacation in February. I prefer light reading on vacate as opposed to the Jane Austen and Sonnet rampage I am on right now:).

You are going to love them. I am sure that you will be able to identify with some of the crap she goes through too.
Don't forget to do your "homework" while you are off too young lady!!

I read High Fidelity by Nick Hornby recently and I liked it way more than I expected. It's a really easy, light read, but a little different than a lot of the crap that constitutes the genre of "easy, light reads."

I read I Am Charlotte Simmons by Tom Wolfe over the summer and I found it to be similar. It was a light, easy, fun read, but with a bit more substance.
