Hey girls--I am making a photo album for my husband for one of his Christmas presents. It is one of those small ones with cheesy paper covers, but I am going to change the cover out and put a simple (but decorated tastefully) cardstock page in it with a quote in the back.
So, I am looking for a portion of a song lyric about family or children or memories or something (that's non-cheasy, obviously) to write on the back. I want to find a quote from a band that we both like such as Damian Rice, U2, Dylan, Paul McArtney or the White Stripes, but I am open to any suggestions (but not Coldplay b/c he hates them). I know this is an off the wall question, but do any of you music fans have any suggestions? What are sme of your favorite lyrics that might apply
To give you an idea of what I'm looking for, I considered this quote from a Johnny cash song, but I don't think it fits b/c I have mainly our baby girl and boy in the photos and not a lot of the two of us:
"One man, one wife, one love of life." Anyway, any ideas??
"I Love The Things That Happen When We Start To Discover Who We Are And What We're Living For, Just Because Love Was All We Ever Wanted It Was All We Ever Had."
another McCartney- "Through our Love" Here We Go Through Our Love We Can See Things That They Said Were Invisible Through Our Love We Can See Where We Are Going To We're Going Through Our Love Through Our Love We Can Learn To Do Things That They Said Were Impossible Through Our Love We Can Be Blessed With A Better View
this is all i could find for now...but i'll keep looking...i love stuff like this!
Ooh I like all of those suggestions. Keep them coming though--I'm looking too and have found a couple but nothing that just totally speaks to me just yet . . .
bob dylan-"precious memories" As I travel down life's pathway Know not what the years may hold As I ponder hopes grow fonder Precious memories flood my soul
One day you'll look back, and you'll see Where you were held How by this love while you could stand there You could move on this moment Follow this feeling
I like those two as well. jessjoy--I found that Dylan quote also. I like it but it doesn't rhyme as nicely as I'd like. I might still use it though. Any other suggestions girls?
Here are some that I've found:
Bob Dylan:
"Beyond the horizon, behind the sun
At the end of the rainbow life has only begun"
Also Dylan (I think but might be J Cash I forgot to write it down):
"We're the best partners this world's ever seen
together as close as can be
but sometimes it's hard to find time in between to tell you what you mean to me"
Or, this one from Dylan:
"You breathed on me and made my life a richer one to live
when I was deep in poverty you taught me how to give."
I have no lyrics to share but these are all so sweet! Okay, I found some.
This is from Beth Orton, Daybreaker (I think it's nice but I suppose it could be sort of depressing - depends on your pov):
We lay on our backs in the grass Silently watching the rain clouds move by far too fast You said it was a night where anything could happen But nothing was gonna last And we're doing fine now yeah we do We don't feel sad or bad or blue and you know We ain't never defeated Not broken inside all that is fine Yeah all that is fine
We, we burn our boats each new year Silently watching the flames and the old life disappear We're burning new sunrise into yesterday's skies An ashen fingerprint melts into the sea And we're doing fine now yeah we do We don't feel sad or bad or blue and you know We ain't never defeated Not broken inside all that is fine Yeah all that is fine
I'll post more if I think of them...
For the Love of You, Joss Stone (couldn't narrow down the song, so here's a big chunk)
Paradise I held within Can't feel insecure again You're the key Oh, this I see, this I see, ooh Now I'm there and I lose my way Using words to try to say what I feel I feel that love is free I know that love is free
I might as well sign my name on a card which can say it a whole lot better Ooh, only time will tell Cause it seems that I've done just about all that I can do I wanna be, ooh, I wanna be living I wanna be living, living for the love of you I wanna be giving, giving, ooh All that I'm giving is for the love of you Oh, it's for the love of you
I just wanna be giving all my love to you Each and every day That's when I'll be giving all my love to you
That's all I wanna do I'm giving all my love to you You know that I'm living for you
May the sunlight find your face Even when the rain does fall And get back on your feet again Every time you slip and fall Keep your heart wide open And always taking in And even when it's broken Be strong enough to fix it up again
Oh little baby girl Sweet little baby girl I wish I could hold your hand in this great big world Oh little baby girl
And I hope your hands are steady And never need to make a fist And I hope that when you're ready You get one never ending kiss And I hope that deep inside of you There's a sweet eternal song And I hope the words are pretty And that you'll always sing along
And I hope your friends are many And your laughter's always loud To help you when you're lonely And pick you up when you're down I hope your eyes shine bright love And learn to see the light Take the time to listen Decide yourself what's wrong or right
Oh little baby girl Sweet little baby girl Be strong in this great big world Oh little baby girl
If There's Love - Citizen Cope
Where you been hidin'? I'm believing You give me life Life my dear You give me strength to beat the odds And overcome my fears You make me feel like I belong under the sun You never grow old Because you're forever young
[chorus:] If there's love... I just want to have somethin' to do with it I just wanna feel yours [repeat chorus]
When I'm alone you make me feel at home If I give enough of you To a higher place we'll go You make me feel like I belong under the sun You'll never grow old Because you're forever young And you know that you got my tomorrow baby Today and yesterday Believe that you've got my tomorrow baby I'll hold you close as far as I can see
