MaxAndChloe.com is an online boutique that I had a horrible experience with (well, it's the worst CS I've run into so far at least).
I ordered a bracelet from them, and the policy says that all orders will ship within 2 days. After about 4 days I still had not recieved a shipment notification. I checked my credit card online, and they already charged me for the bracelet... before the item shipped. I waited one week then e-mailed them, through the link they provide on the order confirmation e-mail.
No response. I e-mailed them again a few days later. No response.
I called them, probably 2 weeks after I ordered, and said I had no response to my numerous e-mails. She said she was sorry, the item was backordered, and that I was e-mailing to the wrong address. I told her it explicitly says in their e-mail that that's the address I should use for order information. She apologized, cancelled my order, and said she would have the web guys fix it. I really hate not being contacted when an item is backordered.
I had already paid the CC statement that the bracelet was on, and the next CC statement did not show a credit yet. I called again and she said the order had been cancelled, but someone forgot to press the "refund" button. WTF?? Shouldn't you start the refund process as soon as an order is cancelled?
Well they did give me the refund finally, but it shouldn't take that much effort on the part of the customer. Needless to say I will never order from them again.

I came, I saw, I did a little shopping.
I had two horrible experiences with MaxandChole. I will NEVER EVER shop from them again, and I advise people not to shop there EVER.
My first experience. I ordered two necklaces. They were delivered promptly. One of them I disliked so I attempted to return them. MaxandChloes policy on returns is that they must be done within 14 days of receipt and you have to receive a Return Authorization Number from them, which they prefer to do by email. I emailed them and gave all of my information. I received an email back asking: "what is your reason for return?", I replyed and they ignored me. I decided to keep the necklace.
I don't know why I shopped from them again, but I did just recently. What a nightmare. I had the same experience zeitgest4 had. The item was backordered, but they never told me. I only found out that it was on backorder after I finally got someone to answer a phone there (took about 10 tries over two days). The rep told me the item would be delivered to me by the end of the week. I waited, I checked online and nothing had shipped. I decided to cancel the order. After sending multiple emails that were never returned, and making multiple phone calls, leaving several messages over a few days, I couldn't get anyone at MaxandChloe to respond to me. So, since I had a taste of their bad customer service before, I called my credit card company and had them reverse the charges.
Two weeks later the necklace arrives. WTF? I emailed them several times requesting Return Authorization, they never replied. I actually managed to get someone on the phone. She said they did receive my email, however since I had reversed the charges through my credit card company, they didn't know how to handle it from an accounting perspective. I told them this: give me a Return Authoriztion # and I will mail it back to you. I gave the rep every example of the bad customer service I received from them, and she denied it and made me seem as if I was making this all up. Is this the end of story? Oh no, it cannot be so simple with MaxandChloe.
I mailed the package promptly and used delivery confirmation with signature so that I could track it. When it was delivered no one was there to pick it up so it went back to the post office with a notice to MaxandChloe to pick the item up. That took them about a week.
I despise that place. And their selection ISN'T so unique and special that you can only find it through them. You can find many of the items they have at other online stores, online department stores or the designer's websites. In fact I have seem some of the Kenneth Jay Lane items at Bloomindales online (on sale too!) and Dillards online.
Wow...wish I'd found this site and learned about other's experiences before I ordered from MaxAndChloe.com!
Here we are in 2009, and it seems that they have not changed their business practices at all since the 2006 posts here.
Same experience for me, I had a bad feeling because I got some run-around trying to request a return number (first of all, no reputable big name company requires you call them to get permission to return an item), so I paid for signature confirmation on my return. I didn't want them to claim they didn't receive my return in the 14-day period their "policy" indicates.
Item was back to them in 2 days. 12 days later, I sent an email to inquire why there was still no credit put back to my credit card. They claimed it would be posted by the end of the week. End of the week has came and went, nothing is credited back to my account. I'm now dealing with my credit card company, hoping for better luck.
DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS PLACE!
