Has anyone ever done this? I expressed to my boss a few months ago that I was open to transfer if the right opportunity came up. We are in contract renewal talks w/my current account and they want to cut costs drastically. My boss said moving my account to another state other than California would save my client over $100K. I know the best thing to do is ask him, but I wanted to get some of your opinions 1st.
I was wondering if a raise typically comes with the transfer if you stay in the same position??
If so, how much should I ask for, I am making a drastic lifestyle change to stay with the company, leaving my friends, family, etc, they don't have to hire a new manager and retrain, etc, so I was thinking 10K more, but would settle for at least 7K more than what I make now.
I was wondering if anyone has experienced similar situations and how I should handle this?
Well, I'd start by looking online for a calculator that translates living expenses from where you currently reside to where you might be moving. Maybe google "cost of living calculator" That way you will know how much of a "raise" you need to keep your lifestyle the same (of course if the other place costs less to live there, I'd keep my mouth shut). That way if they offer you 7K and you know that you would need 6K more for it to be "even" you can point out that it's only a real gain of 1K and that they need a higher offer. That way you won't be taken by them.
